About the role
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Controller to lead financial operations for entities in the Netherlands and Belgium. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and accounting processes while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, ISC, FP&A, RAC, and external auditors. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, supporting strategic decision-making, and developing a high-performing accounting team.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in line with IFRS, Local GAAP, and company policies.
- Lead general ledger activities and manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls.
- Manage, coach, and develop the accounting team to support performance and continuous growth.
- Coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring timely delivery of audit requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting systems, controls, and workflows.
- Partner with key stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, ISC, FP&A, RAC, and other business functions on accounting-related matters.
- Support country-specific accounting and reporting responsibilities for entities within scope.
Job requirements
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and complex financial process management.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting processes, including R2R, I2P, I2C, Tax, IFRS, and Local GAAP.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, matrix organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Hands-on, proactive approach with strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across diverse teams and cultures.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, HFM, and Merlin, or willingness to learn.
- French and/or Greek language skills are considered a strong advantage.
