Technical Service Business Partner

 

The purpose for this role will be:

 

  • The Technical Services Business Partner provides comprehensive technical support and training to customers in the paints & coatings business, ensuring optimal product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • The role supports both new business acquisition and retention of existing customers by resolving complex product and application issues, implementing new products and technologies, delivering technical demonstrations and training, and collaborating with Sales and Marketing to develop customer strategies.
  • By leveraging technical expertise and commercial understanding, the role protects and grows existing business, strengthens long-term customer relationships, and promotes the company’s reputation, values, and technical leadership.

 

About the role

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Provide technical support and training to customers on company products, equipment, and documentation, both on-site and at training centres.
  • Analyse and resolve product-related issues, including on-site and laboratory investigations; coordinate corrective actions with RS Lab and/or Quality Control.
  • Manage complex customer complaints and proactively prevent recurring technical problems.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to gather customer needs and contribute to the development of customer strategies.
  • Actively participate as a technical peer with Sales Representatives throughout key phases of the sales process, including with prospects.
  • Support testing, implementation, and qualification of new products and technologies; advise on prototype selection and support test market activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical staff to protect and grow business.
  • Maintain accurate and complete customer data in CRM systems and utilize all relevant reporting tools.
  • Provide regular progress reports, analyse market trends, and recommend improvements to the market approach.
  • Monitor and report on competitive activities at customer sites.
  • Promote and uphold the company’s reputation and values, ensuring long-term customer relationships.
  • Ensure full compliance with corporate policies, site procedures, and HSE standards.
  • Manage customer and company expectations for mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Advise management on technical training needs and assist in recruiting participants for technical courses, as required.
  • Maintain technical company equipment in a safe and proper manner.

 

 

 

 

Specific Tasks:

 

  • Deliver customer training on product use and application, both at customer sites and in training centres.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and transfer technical knowledge to customers.
  • Perform technical scans and audits at designated customer locations.
  • Participate jointly with Sales Representatives in the sales process, providing technical input to support business growth.
  • Conduct and assist in product testing and implementation of new technologies at customer sites.
  • Support product development activities, including prototype selection advice and execution of test marketing.
  • Maintain CRM and other relevant databases with accurate and complete information, including visit reports, action items, cases, and regulatory requests.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, market trends analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor and document competitor activities observed at customer sites.
  • Ensure all technical equipment is used and maintained according to safety and operational guidelines.
  • Advise management on customer training needs and help secure participation in technical courses.

 

About You

 

  • 3–10 years’ experience in paints & coatings or a comparable B2B/FCG/Coil environment, including customer/segment profiling and technical support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field (Master’s or business qualification preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyse technical issues independently.
  • Effective stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to create value propositions and translate technical topics into customer-focused solutions.
  • Commercial and business acumen, including a basic understanding of financial concepts related to sales and cost-to-serve.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience delivering technical training and conducting product demonstrations is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain and manage technical equipment used for demonstrations and audits is advantageous.
  • Located in Vilafranca del Penedès or close to.
  • Available to travel (Africa, Spain).
