Job Purpose

  • This role is to lead and to drive transformative, competitive and profitable growth on Project Channel. 
  • The role is to assist Marketing Director to shape the strategic growth agenda on residential, repainting, commercial and industrial segment, delivering growth with clearly defined 3-year category growth roadmap that integrates innovation and competitive portfolio together with communication plan that promotes competitive brand value proposition. 
  • The role is expected to work closely with sales team to drill customer insight and translate the insights into portfolio strength and competitive communication plan and proactively lead the team to execute the marketing plans to realize growth in 6-9 months’ time. 
  • The role will also be expected as the BD partner to draft BD strategy and win key customers together with core project sales teams.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Brand and Category 
  • Assist Marketing Director to translate customer and market insights into actionable category choices that define “Where to Play and How to Win”.
  • Develop a category plan for the focused business segments (repainting, new industry, commercial) with in depth situational analysis, trends and drivers with insights team.
  1. Innovation & Segment Solutions
  • Develop and implement a roadmap for the strategic future proof portfolio for segments (including business cases and strategies for new products, total solutions and BD packs).
  • Manage the competitive innovation pipeline to drive focused segment by ensuring alignment to the Stage Gate Process and business strategy.
  • Co-create segment specific and tiered solutions for focused segments with convincing and attractive claims and signature cases & demos that are competitive and consistent with the overarching segment plan.
  • Continuous improvement with cross functional team to stay competitive on price and supply. 
  1. Brand stewardship, Comms & Equity Growth
  • Translate the innovation roadmap into a clear communication and asset development plans (videos, BD packs, segment solutions). 
  • Co-work with branding team for end-to-end creation of assets - from the initial brief through agency management, creative development, content production, and final delivery of master assets/toolkits for markets.
  • Develop toolboxes and activation plans for targeted segments and value propositions (together with branding team).
  • Collaborate closely with Digital, Marcom and PR Team to maximize customer engagement and industry awareness building with cost effectiveness & high ROI.
  1. Deliver Must-win Projects with Sales 
  • Serve as internal hub to cross functional team to ensure must-win project delivery on track and on time.
  • Continue to optimize process and speed up the projects.
  • Monitor segment performance KPIs (segment growth & profitability, margin, share, equity/preference and T1/T2  turnover).
  • Be measured through number of white paper published for industry influence and number of assets (Tools boxes, BD decks and solutions packs developed and appreciated by Sales).

Job Requirements

  1. Education: 

University qualification (Bachelor degree and above or equivalent qualification) in business management, marketing engineering or chemistry environment.

2.  Experience

  • Significant functional experience in specialist functional area of Project KA management. 
  • Experience working in Painting coating/ flooring and business development is preferred. 

3.  Personal type and Leadership 

  • Ability to work in diverse (cross Functional/Country) groups, including outside agencies – strong influencing and leadership skills. 
  • Pro-active approach with strong motivational skills and drive for results - to be able to operate, adapt and succeed in ambiguous & changing.
  • Proven project management, analytical and organizational skills to structure the work with sufficient detail & accuracy, alongside a high level of interpersonal skill - to be able to negotiate and influence to get the work done whilst maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong team orientation with ability to learn and develop capability in area regardless of reporting relationships - possessing sufficient skill and desire to be able to develop functional knowledge/expertise in specific area (own and others).

4.  Business acumen

  • Ability to think with good business acumen - understanding commercial drivers and good customer understanding.
  • Commercially astute and technically strong with excellent business analysis skills.
  • Strong pragmatic marketeer/product manager with natural interest in MSU perspective on market situations (i.e. being close to the market), so they can develop & deliver relevant solutions within a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to balance creativity and a data-driven approach to drive effectiveness in development and execution of the product management program.

5.  Others

  • Excellent Microsoft office skills.
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure to handle multiple tasks situations.
  • Can work with multiple stakeholders and build consensus, including Sales, Marketing (brand, insights, color), R&D, Technical service, Integrated Supply Chain and Deco Academy, etc.
