About The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about advancing coatings technology? AkzoNobel is seeking a driven Development Chemist to join our team in Sunshine, Melbourne. Reporting to the Solutions Lab Manager – Coil and Packaging, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining our product portfolio for the ANZ Coil and Packaging sector.

In this role, you'll be expected to:

  • Develop and maintain cutting-edge coatings portfolio for ANZ Coil and Packaging products.
  • Improve existing research methodologies and protocols in alignment with business strategy.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers, and gain understanding of how our customers utilise our products.
  • Provide technical support to local teams (commercial, operations, procurement, etc.) to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Independently solve problems and actively contribute to more complex situations.
  • Adhere to safe work practices for both personal and equipment safety.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and tasks according to the plan.
  • Manage your priorities effectively, seeking clarification when needed.
  • Document results using the appropriate reporting system.

What You Would Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Industrial Coatings Industry or chemical manufacturing.
  • Proficient understanding of coating technology platforms and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to discern colour accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English (speaking, writing, presenting).
  • Proven track record of problem-solving and project management.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Positive attitude, self-regulated, and continuously striving for improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
