Job Purpose
The Site Resonsible Engineer & Maintenance manager is reposinble to ensure high availability, reliability, and safe operation of all plant equipment, while maintaining full compliance with AkzoNobel standards and site HSE requirements (HSE / LSRs / BBS).
Key Accountabilities
- Lead, supervise, and coach the maintenance team; set daily work plans and allocate resources to priority interventions.
- Ensure proper execution and quality of maintenance activities (corrective and preventive), including contractor/service-provider work.
- Drive the maintenance planning program and ensure adherence to preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Conduct and contribute to incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure effective use of the CMMS (GMAO) and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Track, analyze, and report maintenance performance KPIs; implement actions to improve maintenance performance and reliability.
- Identify and define maintenance-related capital investment needs; support the development and execution of site investment plans.
- Participate in plant projects: follow-up execution, contribute to project risk assessments, and support commissioning as needed.
- Manage and enforce the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Perform periodic audits/inspections of equipment and operations versus AkzoNobel group requirements.
- Coordinate with AkzoNobel teams to update and maintain operational procedures.
- Develop/maintain risk plans (PHR) for workshops/areas and contribute to the Site Improvement Plan (SIP).
- Act as Site Security Officer (SSO) responsibilities (as applicable at site level).
- Review/approve deactivation of HSE&S equipment where required and ensure controls are in place.
- Support Permit-to-Work (PTW) process implementation and verification.
- Carry out field safety inspections and observation routines (e.g., Gemba Walks, BBS observations).
- Contribute to site crisis management preparation and emergency response readiness.
Experience & Role Requirements
- Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in maintenance leadership within a manufacturing/industrial environment (process industry experience is a plus).
- Strong people management skills (team supervision, planning, coaching, performance follow-up) and ability to lead through priorities and constraints.
- Solid knowledge of maintenance best practices: preventive/corrective maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and KPI-driven performance management.
- Hands-on experience with CMMS/GMAO tools and maintenance data discipline.
- Strong understanding of HSE in an industrial environment, including:
- Life Saving Rules (LSRs) / safety-critical rules compliance
- Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) practices
- Process Safety Management (M) fundamentals
- Risk assessment and hazard study participation
- Permit-to-Work (PTW) and contractor safety management
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Ability to participate in audits/inspections and ensure compliance with corporate/group standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (incident investigation, root-cause analysis).
- Effective communication and coordination skills across operations, engineering, contractors, and corporate stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a structured, compliance-driven multinational environment; able to drive continuous improvement.
