Job Purpose
This Assistant Store Manager position in our Hammersmith Dulux Decorator Centre is a key role within our management team and is particularly suited to someone who is already operating as a successful Assistant Store manager, or similar position, and ready to take on broader responsibility in the near future. You will support the Store Manager in increasing sales and market share by building effective partnerships with customers as well as developing and engaging the store sales team to meet performance targets. You will be confident and capable in taking full responsibility for the store in the Store Manager’s absence.

 

This is a full time 40 hr per week role, and you need to be available to work shifts between 7am and 5pm Mon-Fri. You will also work some Saturday shifts (8am to 12pm) on a rotational basis, with time off in lieu. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager to deliver a culture of engagement & the national engagement plan, through action planning.
  • Assist in the nurturing of a high performing sales team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Own & manage store standards in line with the DDC Operational Excellence Guide.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the ownership of the P&L with an emphasis on delivering sales, while optimising margin, cost efficiency & protecting against stock/cash losses.
  • Cultivate & maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Help review performance & monitor customer/store trends 
  • Support improvement initiatives.
  • Build a strong understanding of our company and products.
  • Learn our operational standards and commercial model.
  • There is a clear route for progression for someone who demonstrates the right capability and ambition, including potential opportunities in other Central London locations.

 

Job Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel to and work in other Dulux Decorating Centres across Central London as required, and open to progressing into roles in other locations or levels of the business.
  • Proven experience in supervising a store (or similar retail/trade environment) and reviewing people and business performance.
  • Experience operating at, or close to, full store management responsibility (for example, regularly covering for a Store Manager, leading a small store, or managing a department with P&L exposure).
  • Strong leadership skills and an understanding of the importance of nurturing and inspiring colleagues.
  • Comfortable using business systems and interpreting commercial data.
  • Commercially astute with a track record of driving sales and improving performance.
