Job Purpose

Supervise Quality Control personnel to drive the quality leading KPIs improvement and to ensure Product Quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities

•    Supervise Lab personnel in regards to all Quality testing, including Raw materials, semi finished production and in process checks
•    Maintain calibration/verification procedures and ensure proper testing done in regards to ISO9001 standard
•    Drive and ensure proper inspection plans, panel standards, and wet standards are properly maintained
•    Participate and confirm the scale up process with MET, Production, and RDI to ensure Right First Time
•    Drive Quality Process confirmation program to enhance compliance and reduce risk of Quality issues
•    Maintain technical information by preparing required reports and appropriate documentation. Metrics including Cost of Quality will need to be calculated
•    Assist with complaint and 8D investigations as relates to Product Quality
•    Provides technical assistance and information to Customers, Suppliers, Sales and Internal departments to ensure product quality for products produced at Pontiac Manufacturing site
•    Selects, develops and motivates by training, setting goals, monitoring, and appraising performance to establish and maintain a competent workforce
•    Involved in Continuous Improvement and ALPS initiatives as they relate to Quality
•    Manages safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state and local requirements
•    Maintains a safe working environment by cleaning and maintaining laboratory and equipment
•    Run Quality reports in SAP, utilizing SPC or statistical methods

 

Level of autonomy
 • Make decisions related to batch adjustments, and raw material rejections.
Supervisor will determine when to scrap a batch, how to fix a batch and whether or not to use a raw material or reject. These are large monetary decisions that will be made on own. Supervisor will be submitting claims to suppliers.  Some of these decisions will have to be made quickly, some not so quick. Sometimes the call comes after hours, in the middle of the night. This person is responsible for 3 shifts of workers.

• Makes decisions related to Quality Control department
The supervisor will be responsible for hiring/pay and termination (in conjuction with HR). Basically, the person will have full autonomy of the staff and decisions related to the job.

• Makes decisions based on budget and financial spend
Supervisor will be submitting proposals for capital equipment, managing the budget including OT spend, lab supply spend. These decisions will be made in a few days time, because they need proper vetting, especially for large purposes.

Job Requirements

•    BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical) or related technical discipline required
•    5+ years experience in Engineering or related technical discipline
•    3+ years experience in the Coatings industry preferred 
•    Able to work with solvents, machinery and computer systems
•    Six Sigma and/or Lean experience preferred
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Experience with ISO 9000 or other quality systems preferred

The salary range for these skills is $92,000.00 - $103,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
