Job Purpose

The Maintenance Technician will perform routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment, as well as facility infrastructure, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role exists to maximize equipment uptime, support consistent product quality, and enable on-time delivery to customers. The technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, executing preventive maintenance programs, and supporting continuous improvement of equipment performance. In addition, the role helps protect company assets by maintaining buildings, grounds, and critical systems. Strong collaboration with operations, safety, and external contractors is essential to ensure compliance, minimize downtime, and sustain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Computerized maintenance system to plan/prioritize PM responsibilities, work requests, and report findings.  Record all the work done on a daily basis to support and maintain the work order system.
  • Analyzes mechanical problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain maximum production efficiency and quality. Tests equipment operation after repairs or installations is completed and notifies necessary persons of equipment operational status. Assists with new equipment installations as needed. 
  • Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on assigned equipment by visually inspecting, greasing, testing safety switches, measuring with go-no-go gauges, recording critical information, oil analysis etc. and reporting adverse findings to the Maintenance Manager. To maximize equipment up-time potential problems are identified and either repaired immediately or scheduled for repairs to eliminate breakdowns during operation.
  • Assists with inventory management and keeps storerooms and shops neat and clean. 
  • Complies with all HSE policies and reports any concerns, which may have an adverse impact on health safety and the environment. Attends monthly safety meetings, maintains a neat, clean and safe work area, works safely and requires others to work safely also. Adheres to AkzoNobel’s Code of Conduct.  Corrects or notifies supervisor of unsafe conditions. 
  • Work with the external contractor(s) to provide necessary help and assistance in order to complete their work on site and issue the required Work Permits.   
  • Assist with on-call duties after hours and on weekends
  • Must be able to use ladders, hoists, industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Must have the ability to wear a breathing apparatus and other associated HSE personal protective equipment 

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in an engineering-related field, vocational/military training, or 5–10 years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • Ability to perform electrical and mechanical repairs on processing equipment, including basic PLC and process control troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation (Piping & Instrument Diagrams, wiring schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams) and safely using tools, measuring devices, and test equipment.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 55 pounds, stand/walk for extended periods, work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions, and operate ladders, hoists, and material handling equipment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and flexibility to work overtime, including after-hours support as needed.

Total Compensation

  • The hourly range for these skills is $31/hr. + 4% annual bonus.
