Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to be the frontline sales person and technical service person who is responsible for the execution of agreed sales and profitability targets in a set territory established by the business by developing new business and expanding the business with existing customers.  Along with providing technical service as the business requires inside and outside of the defined sales territory. 

Assigned Territory

The assigned territory covers the Province of British Columbia, with a primary focus on the Greater Vancouver Area and Lower Mainland. The ideal candidate will reside in or near the Greater Vancouver area. The role requires approximately 30% travel throughout the territory, with occasional travel to the United States as business needs require.

Total Compensation

  • Annual base Salary of $80,000.00 to $95,000.00
  • 35% Bonus based on personal and corporate performance.
  • Vehicle Allowance of $800/monthly + KM reimbursement
  • 3 weeks’ vacation + 5 personal/Sick days + 2 company determined floater days.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Sales & Account Management

  • Manage an assigned sales territory and execute account plans aligned with regional and global business strategies.
  • Identify strategic customers, projects, and key decision-makers, and mobilize internal resources to support business opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the commercial pipeline in CRM and deliver agreed financial and non-financial targets.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Coordinate and recommend pricing and identify cost-saving and business improvement opportunities.
  • Independently plan customer visits and travel based on account priorities and business needs.

 

Technical & Customer Solutions

  • Provide technical expertise, product training, and application support to customers.
  • Develop coating specifications, technical reports, surveys, and presentations.
  • Conduct technical inspections and audits at customer locations.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve technical issues and manage complex customer complaints.
  • Keep customers informed of relevant product developments, applications, and emerging technologies.

 

Business Development & Industry Engagement

  • Develop and deliver presentations for customer meetings, conferences, seminars, and trade shows.
  • Strengthen customer relationships through ongoing business and industry engagement.
  • Communicate key account activities, opportunities, and issues to Sales Management.
  • Travel with customers, when appropriate, to evaluate new technologies and applications.
  • Operate independently within established functional, commercial, and operational business guidelines.
     

Job Requirements

Experience, Certifications & Education

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the coatings industry, preferably heavy industrial or marine.
  • Minimum 3 years of sales or marketing experience, preferably in industrial coatings, materials, or a related industry.
  • AMPP, NACE, FROSIO Coating Inspector certification, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant additional work experience will also be considered.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage customers, peers, and all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment.

 

Effective coaching, training, and knowledge-sharing skills

  • Ability to read and understand technical instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, email, and electronic reporting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices.

 

Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel more than 30% of the time, including the ability to travel to the United States.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at customer locations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand or walk for extended periods, climb and descend ladders, and work in confined spaces as required.
