Job Purpose
AkzoNobel Vietnam is seeking a highly skilled HSE&S Manager to join our chemical manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you will guide line management in implementing HSE&S policies, foster a strong safety culture, and manage hazards. You will act as a change agent for continuous improvement, maintain expert knowledge of HSE&S systems, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support the development of HSE&S capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Guide line management in developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with HSE policies, plans, and practices for both manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas, with special attention to hazardous chemicals, in accordance with AkzoNobel’s HSE Policy, Directives, Rules & Procedures, and relevant regulations.
Collaborate with and support line management to set and maintain a proactive safety culture and effectively manage chemical hazards and risks.
Serve as a role model and change agent for continuous improvement and strict compliance with HSE&S standards.
Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all HSE&S systems, requirements, and relevant chemical safety regulations for the site.
Ensure the robustness and quality of auditing systems in both site and non-manufacturing areas.
Participate in HSE&S audits, review audit results, and contribute to the development and implementation of improvement plans for chemical safety.
Maintain and support the Integrated Management System (ISO 14001) and certification processes.
Leverage your expertise in HSE&S to support your own unit and others within the organization.
Contribute to the development and execution of HSE&S strategy for manufacturing, particularly around chemical management.
Support the development and enhancement of HSE&S competencies among line managers.
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
At least 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a similar HSE&S position within a chemical manufacturing company.
Proven experience in HSE&S roles within a chemical manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in handling Dangerous Goods (DGs).
In-depth understanding of HSE&S systems, chemical safety regulations, and ISO 14001.
Experience with chemical hazard identification, risk assessment, and DG compliance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of safety and compliance.
Auditing experience in chemical environments is an advantage.
