Job Purpose

To manage and execute import and export operations independently, ensuring all shipments comply with national and international trade laws, and are handled efficiently and cost-effectively. To serve as the operational focal point for assigned trade lanes or product categories, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to corporate logistics standards.
Main objectives:
1. To manage end-to-end shipment activities (import/export).
2. To ensure full compliance with trade regulations and Akzo Nobel’s policies & HSE & S.
3. To maintain efficient coordination with service providers and internal departments.
4. To support continuous improvement and cost control initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

Manage shipment planning, booking, documentation, and coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.

Ensure timely and compliant import/export clearance and delivery of goods.

Review and approve documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Ensure correct application of HS codes, Incoterms, and valuation for customs declarations.

Monitor changes in trade laws and tariffs; advise management accordingly

Prepare regular performance, cost, and compliance reports.

Key Activities

Investigate and resolve shipment delays, discrepancies, or cost variances.

Negotiate with logistics providers to achieve cost-effective transport solutions.

Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce lead times and costs

Provide guidance and on-the-job training to junior staff.

Support audits and maintain accurate documentation for compliance

Experience

  • Experience: 5–8 years of progressive experience in import/export operations with supervisory duties. 
    Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of customs laws, HS codes, and Incoterms. 
    • Excellent coordination and multitasking ability.
    • ERP system proficiency (SAP, OneSAP, or equivalent).
    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to train and support junior staff.
    • Good stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

Education

Education: Bachelor’s degree of any discipline preferred International Business,
Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related discipline
