About The Role:

We are currently seeking an Area Sales Manager for Sydney and Surrounding NSW. The primary purpose of this role is to manage direct and indirect accounts to achieve agreed sales revenue and margin targets while improving relationships and specification positions across all markets within the dedicated region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Sales / KAM / Marketing / Distribution Partners/Supply Chain to perform continuous market/lead research for in-depth market knowledge of the value chain of the accounts within the dedicated region in context of further market penetration
  • Identify significant business opportunities within applicators, fabricators, engineering contractors (indirect and direct) owners and consultants - be the lead building rapport, pinpointing potential problems and arranging resolution, gaining specification position, converting to sale
  • Actively contribute toward sales / profitability growth, collaborate with team on key revenue initiatives, align with company and regional strategies i.e) Focus Products, Services, Partner acceleration
  • Build / improve customer satisfaction and engagement, manage relationships with existing direct customers for mutual profitability growth
  • Plan, monitor, participate in and report on execution of sales / opportunity activities pertaining to designated customers, opportunities and prospects
  • Promote positive company image and develop long-term relations with assigned / strategic accounts by actively participating in customer and industry events
  • Regularly call (call cycle) on assigned existing customers to maintain close contact with the market and opportunity activity
  • Cascade information to designated customers (and prospects) on features and benefits of products and services
  • Provide feedback on customer and competition information in the context of further market penetration
  • Consistently maintain customer databases (CRM) and ensure they contain up-to-date, accurate and complete customer and opportunity information

As well as:

  • Deliver periodical business reviews and participate in the design of business growth and sales plans. 
  • Assist in implementation and delivery of regional solutions / targets in relation to Services
  • Actively contributes to team spirit 
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and support management of customer expectations
  • Ensure all products, sales tools, systems and appropriate support are available, in a timely fashion, to allow for successful execution and completion of plans/targets.
  • Promote educating customers on technical requirements of the available product lines and support tools.
  • Be familiar with all applicable corporate / site policies / procedures with regard to communication charter, personal conduct / HSES standards and acts in compliance with all regulations.
  • Active interaction with Trade Centre Manager and Staff on all day-to-day activities, Forecasting, planning, stock management to ensure best customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Overdue management- work with RSM, Sale Support and AR to maintain AR to meet Business KPI for Aus.
  • Forecasting Accuracy that will be in line with business KPI for Aus.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience within the Paint and Coatings Industry – marine and protective coatings experience would be strongly advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and /or influencing skills, along with your demonstration of persistence.
  • NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO certification (desirable)
  • Customer/Business focus with the ability to network within the industry.
  • Desire to learn and build on product knowledge, along with detailed mind to ensure specifications are correct.
  • A degree or equivalent Technical qualification, experience of blast preparation of steel substrates and paint applications (desirable)
