Job Purpose

Execute daily project tasks and lab work requests, working within defined standard operating procedures (SOPs) and following project work plans.  Will make minor adjustments to established product lines to achieve performance or application efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct formulation or technical work in the lab as defined in the departmental research plan.  Projects will include preparing lab scale paint batches which may require milling of pigments using high speed dispersors, spraying, and testing for film properties per specifications. 
  • Document lab results through appropriate systems, reporting results to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Stock lab supplies, obtaining items from the warehouse as required.
  • Maintain a clean spraybooth area which requires changing filters on a regular basis.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment to include viscometers, balances, and salt spray cabinets.
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals using protective safety equipment to include respirators, gloves, and safety goggles.
  • Work within establishes timely, proactively asking questions.
  • Promote health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Associates of Science, vocational, or technical degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or related field preferred. 
  • 2 years' experience in a laboratory environment.  Experience in the paints and coatings industry or chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of milling equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Rewards and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position will be $30.00 - $33.00 based upon experience.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.

 

The position is eligible for overtime for hours worked more than forty (40) in a given work week.

 

This position is also eligible for an annual bonus target of 4%, based on individual and company performance.
