Job Purpose
This position is responsible for making color adjustments to shaded liquid paints. The operation will include using a scale to measure the raw material components accurately then and add the materials to the batch in process under a mixer. The Shader will work with Senior Shaders and Color Specialists to learn the fundamentals of the shading process. The Shader will also learn to perform QC testing such as grind, weight per gallon, NVM, viscosity, etc. The Shader is required to use designated equipment in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures to achieve the highest level of quality, safety, efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
- Making adjustments to shaded batches by mixing and measuring each raw material accurately. Mix and spray products onto substrates.
- All tasks are to be performed in accordance with standard operating instructions using safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate and sufficient inventory levels in PR03 to ensure uninterrupted operation of making adjustment(s).
- Maintain accurate records of materials, quantities, and lot numbers used while making adjustment(s) to the product(s).
- Performs product testing to internal and/or external specifications and other tests as required on batch QAT.
Key Activities
- High school graduate and 1 – 2 years college or equivalent is preferred
- 1 year experience in a plant manufacturing chemical/coatings environment.
- Good math skills is a critical requirement
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word type programs is preferred.
- Ability to wear breathing apparatus (respirator) and pass fit test.
- Visual color perception and ability to pass color test.
- Ability to operate PC with windows based operating system.
- Must have the aptitude to operate various pieces of manufacturing equipment and testing instrumentation required to perform job functions.
- Job involves walking or standing for eight-hour shift.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs; ability to push/pull 55-gallon drums weighing up to 500 lbs; lifting on a repetitive basis.
