Job Purpose
• Perform routine, preventive and emergency repairs on plant machinery, equipment, building, laboratory and piping systems to ensure on-time delivery of quality products to our valued customers.
• Safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hard hat must be worn always by technicians in designated areas. Dust masks, rubber gloves, face shields, electrical safety gear and other protective equipment must be worn when required. Technicians must wear company-provided uniforms.
• Technicians must be able to work an eight (8) hour-day schedule. Weekend and other overtime work are required from time to time. Call-in and occasional temporary shift rotation is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, trouble-shoot and overhaul machinery and process equipment including but not limited to piping systems, electrical systems, variable-frequency drive, HVAC, buildings, and rotating equipment.
- Perform tasks on electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, structural repair, grounds and sewer repair, welding, brazing and soldering, HVAC.
- Install machinery, process equipment and associated utilities. Check and calibrate systems after installation and make necessary changes, adjustments and modifications to obtain desired results.
- Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on assigned equipment by visually inspecting, greasing, testing safety switches, measuring with go-no-go gauges, recording critical information, oil analysis etc. and reporting adverse findings to the Maintenance Manager.
- Adheres to site security policies, workplace violence, entry procedures, weekend and evening site security policy, smoking policy etc. Performs repairs on perimeter security gates, fences and resets boiler and air compressor alarms.
- Complies with all HSE policies and reports any concerns, which may have an adverse impact on health safety and the environment. Must actively participate in improving department and plant safety performance. Openly give and receive feedback on safety performance to and from fellow employees.
- Responsible for general housekeeping in the department and other maintenance areas throughout plant.
- Complete maintenance documentation, includes but not limited to job time documentation, job plans and parts consumption.
- Takes part in root cause problem solving.
- Shares findings with maintenance planning and engineering on maintenance tasks and jobs and provides opportunities to improve the maintenance tasks and jobs in the future.
Job Requirements
• Position requires a minimum of High School Diploma, vocational/military training or 2 years related experience.
• Must possess a valid and current driver’s license
• Must possess manual dexterity and have the ability to lift at least 55 pounds.
• Must be able to stand or walk for periods of eight to twelve hours.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to use ladders, hoists, industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
• Must be able to operate hand tools such as drills, pliers, channel locks, screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets and sockets.
• Must have the ability to wear a breathing apparatus and other associated HSE personal protective equipment
• Must possess the ability to read and comprehend equipment repair manuals, standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Must be proficient in the safe use of a wide variety of hand tools, measuring devices (tape measures calipers, gauges, micrometers etc.), power tools (table saw, cut off saw, bench grinders, sanders, routers etc.)
• Skilful in building and grounds maintenance carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting and related operations involving building repair and grounds maintenance.
• Must be able and willing to work overtime as required.
