Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, ensures proper running and cleaning of production equipment in the manufacture of powder coatings.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Packaging and palletizing of finished product into boxes, drums, gaylords, and
         supersacks from 15 lb to 2000 lbs.
    2.  General housekeeping.
    3.  Cleaning grinders, extruders, testing equipment and charging equipment
    4.  Forklift operation
    5.  Floor Scrubber operation
    6.  Sampling of raw materials and/or finished good.
    7. Recording of batch variables and logging data.
    8. Perform all work safely and injury-free.  Must actively participate in improving
         department and plant safety performance.
    9. Perform duties according to ISO 14001 procedures and environmental

    10. Attend and participate in Warsaw Plant Programs/Committees/Training as 
    required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioral Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs.
    11. Participate in the Warsaw Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which
          is   Simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behavior are unsafe.

Department Specific Duties Include:
WEIGH UP OPERATORS:
1.    Wash totes
2.    Charge product
3.    Weigh up critical raws
4.    Loading and blending of dry materials.
5.    Sample room (pre-mix)
1.    Extrude/grind/sieve sample and obtain QC analysis for testing.
6.    Stage raw materials for batches per batch tickets
7.    Record data
8.    Transport totes to blender/blend/sample

EXTRUDER OPERATORS:
1.    Must possess basic mechanical aptitude.
2.    Ability to determine screw profile for product as determined on batch ticket 
     or run history by interacting with extruder operator on previous shift.  
3.    Ability to determine cleanliness of machine.
4.    Operation of grinder and extruder production lines
5.    Wash and clean totes.
6.    Dust collector filter replacement on the grinders
7.    Transport totes of QC approved material to upper level mezzanine.
8.    Extrude product – adjust feed rate to allow maximum capacity per product 
      specification.
9.    Transport tote to Post-Add station if necessary.
10.    Transport extruded product to ACM staging area.

ACM OPERATORS:    
1.    Grind totes in sequence to minimize contamination at leadperson’s request.
2.    Must determine cleanliness of machine prior to running product by interacting
     with previous shift ACM operator.
3.    Transport tote of approved flake, run a contamination, sieve check and pull 
      sample for QC
4.    Make adjustments as necessary, re-clean machine if contaminated
5.    Perform particle size analysis – adjust if necessary (every 18 boxes)
6.    Pull samples as required for QC (every 27 boxes)

AUTO PACK OPERATOR:
1.    Monitor operation of Auto Packaging System
2.    Monitor case erector
3.    Ensure case erector is equipped with:
1.    Boxes
2.    material in bag inserter
3.    Ties for bag closer
4.    Ensure case sealer has tape
      4.  Transport full skids, stretch wrap and move to finished goods staging area

Job Requirements

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. 
•    Basic math skills  
•    Strong tow motor driving skills
•    Good computer skills with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 
•    Some experience with SAP preferred 
•    Job requires good interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interface with Akzo Nobel personnel in a confidential manner.
•    Ability to lift 55 lbs. several times/daily

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position is $24.00/hour with a $0.50 cent shift differential (2nd shift)
