Job Purpose

Perform maintenance servicing and installation of plant machinery, equipment and piping systems.  Safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and bump caps must be worn always by technicians in designated areas.  Dust mask, rubber gloves, face shields, electrical safety gear and other protective equipment must be worn when required. Technicians must wear company-provided uniforms. Technicians must be able to work an eight (8) hour day, afternoon, or night schedule.  Weekend and other overtime work are required from time to time.  Call-in and occasional temporary shift rotation is required.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and overhaul machinery and process equipment, including PLCs, PanelView systems, variable-frequency drives, and electrical systems.
  • Perform routine and non-routine troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, and structural systems.
  • Install and calibrate machinery, process equipment, and utilities, ensuring proper adjustments and modifications to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Perform welding, brazing, soldering, and grounds/sewer repair to support plant maintenance.
  • Adhere to and promote plant safety practices, actively participating in safety improvement initiatives and providing feedback on safety performance.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, including job time records, job plans, and parts consumption.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts such as root cause problem-solving and providing input to enhance maintenance planning and engineering tasks.
  • Follow ISO 9001 procedures and comply with AkzoNobel's Leading Performance System (ALPS) and other plant programs.
  • Manage warehouse stores, including part requesting, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and proper part storage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in maintenance and other designated plant areas.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or a satisfactory work record is required.
  • Two years of mechanical experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must have strong electrical skills.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  • Expertise in variable frequency drive troubleshooting and repair to support operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use and care of electrical and mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret sketches, electrical diagrams, and blueprints for accurate diagnosis and maintenance.
  • Physical capability to manually lift and handle up to 25 kgs. (55 lbs.), and perform tasks involving climbing ladders, working at heights, and operating hand tools.
