About the role
We are looking for an Indirect Tax Manager EMEA to lead VAT compliance activities across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant VAT reporting while supporting audits, tax authority matters, and indirect tax governance. The position also plays a key role in business transformation, process improvement, and system implementation projects with indirect tax implications.
Key responsibilities
- Manage VAT compliance activities for entities across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
- Act as the primary indirect tax contact for the DACH region, partnering with finance, business, and operational stakeholders.
- Monitor and strengthen VAT processes and controls to improve compliance, efficiency, and risk management.
- Support indirect tax aspects of business transformations, supply chain changes, and system implementations.
- Drive improvements in indirect tax data quality, master data governance, and reporting processes.
- Lead initiatives focused on process standardization, automation, and digitalization, including SAP-related enhancements.
- Coordinate VAT audits, tax authority inquiries, and relationships with external advisors and compliance providers.
- Provide practical indirect tax guidance on transactions, contracts, and operational activities while monitoring regulatory developments across the DACH region.
Job requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, or a related field.
- Approximately 5 years of VAT or indirect tax experience gained in a consulting firm or multinational corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of EU VAT regulations and indirect tax principles; experience supporting the DACH region is preferred.
- Experience managing VAT compliance, reporting, and interactions with tax authorities.
- Ability to interpret tax legislation and translate requirements into practical business solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across functions and levels.
- Fluent English communication skills; SAP experience is an advantage.
