Job Purpose

  • The purpose of this role is to lead our Deco Belgium go-to-market sales strategy and implementation.
  • Ensure that adequate resources and capability (people, funds and processes) reside within the business to deliver the sales across all channels in the Belgium as well as to provide the desired infrastructure to execute our business strategy and meet overall revenue, profitability and market share related targets.
  • The role will lead the integrated sales organization covering both offline as well as online business in both Retail/Consumer as well as Wholesale/Professional channels.

Key Responsabilities

  • Effectively engage, develop, and lead Deco Belgium sales management team such as Consumer Channel as well as Prof Channel sales teams (both (key)account management and field sales), Online Sales team (5 direct reports, 40 indirect reports)
  • Develop and execute sales strategies & plans in the marketplace and deliver expected top and bottom line results and market share development for the segment/channel in Belgium
  • Roll-out store sales programs (including sales process-related knowledge and tools) and implement corporate projects such as CRM and IBP
  • Plan, monitor and periodically report on execution and progress versus targets of sales strategy implementation across channels
  • Identify significant business opportunities, pinpoint existing and/or potential problem areas and assist sales force where appropriate
  • Drive Continuous Improvement and commercial excellence across the organization to generate value to customers – Service, capability, efficiency, and productivity
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including support to the relevant channel sales teams to execute their commercial plans and deliver against desired service levels new developments
  • Be familiar with all the applicable corporate as well as site policies/procedures regarding personal conduct and HSE standards and acting in compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Define, develop, and implement the channel business strategy, incl. sales cost and manpower
  • Monitor country sales execution and result
  • Develop the appropriate channel distribution network
  • Control and manage OPEX and CAPEX related to the distribution channels
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of local / channel / customer specific marketing incl. new product line development
  • Ensure alignment between the distribution channels and surrounding markets
  • Drive category growth in line with channel strategy
  • Informal leader of the local Management Team and chairman of the local Works Council

The Commercial Manager BE

  • Works independently, within operational plans and policies; gives work instructions to and plans work for others
  • Has the authority to take the needed actions and allocate the needed resources to deliver the required outcomes behind the Strategy & Action Plans that are critical to realize our budget commitments
  • Is responsible (by non-hierarchical management) for integration of commercial strategy, commercial activities, and processes of functional discipline with multiple other organizational processes closely related to realize the (Sales) objectives, customer services, marketing, production planning
  • Cooperation transcends own functional discipline; has multiple interfaces with other disciplines/parties to manage cooperation with other functions 

Job Requirements

  • Relevant Master degree (e.g. business, finance)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, influencing, entrepreneurship, result oriented, negotiation, problem solving, (project) management
  • Extensive sales/account management capabilities
  • Good Dutch, French, English language skills (oral and written)
  • Experience externally in Paints & Coatings or comparable industries or internally different BU’s / disciplines / region
  • Broad and/or specialized (technical) knowledge of the own functional discipline, industry, strategy and policies
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
