TEMPORARY: 4 MONTHS

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Pro-actively coordinate the Import and export activities within North America across all BUs and functions in close cooperation with the internal stakeholders while staying well-aligned with the international shipping requirements. Act as the liaison between the Business and the freight forwarders.

 

Scoping: this includes (but is not limited to): all import and export process related activities, such as custom clearance, forwarder management, import and export forwarder management, etc.

 

Key Interfaces:

1 ) Business Units: work with the business supply chain and related functions, such as R&D, Finance, IM, Purchasing, Sales and Customs Service to clearly define the business process agreements.

2) Country Functions: work with country Customer Service, Supply Chain and Logistics teams.

3 ) NAM logistics : closely with NAM logistics on forwarder selection , price negotiation and supplier management

4) Corporate. Safeguard and align with the related global requirements and have these implemented in close co-operation with business units and suppliers, etc.

5) North America Customs and related government department: keep good relationship with North America custom and related government department to well understand and meet government regulation requirement

 

Other: the job holder is responsible to setup an Import-Export operations centre to lead the team working on the import and export daily tasks, and to drive operational excellence, service level improvement, supplier management, cost savings and process innovation. Secures and uninterrupted and timely support to all BUs within specifications.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experienced Import and export professionalism with broad understanding of import and export knowledge in chemicals industry  
  • Handle Air or Ocean documents and process all related paperwork per requirements of client.
  • Provide excellent level of customer service within a freight forwarding environment.
  • Strong communication with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Able to meet deadlines in a fast- paced environment.
  • Must be organized, prioritize work and be detail oriented.
  • Strong knowledge of operational systems, with FCL, LCL, Airfreight and Customs Clearance knowledge.
  • Problem solver and works well under pressure.
  • Computer savvy and can work independent or in a team.
  • Communicate with origin offices, shippers, and customers via email and telephone.
  • Maintain daily tracking and provide update status to customers.
  • Accurate and timely data entry.
  • Perform related tasks as required or assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Maintain files ensuring they are costed and billed in accordance with procedures provided by management.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics or other relevant discipline preferred
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, influencing, entrepreneurship, strong result orientation and drive, problem solving, project management, team working/building with different levels of seniority (both internal and external).
  • Be able to manage conflicting business interests, understand and be able to establish common ground in organizational (including cross BU) barriers.
  • Ability to perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have a positive attitude with excellent problem- solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent Verbal/written communication skills especially when delivering information to customers.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
