Maintenance Manager
The main objective of the Maintenance Manager position is to lead and optimize all maintenance activities for buildings and equipment, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and efficiency through proactive planning, team management, continuous improvement, and strict adherence to HSE standards.
About the role
- Ensures that preventative and active maintenance on all facets of buildings and equipment is carried out according to planning and ensures priorities are being followed.
- Reviews and prioritizes “work orders” to complete jobs that are requested form different departments.
- Diagnoses equipment problems, determines repair needs, tears down, repairs/replaces defective parts and reassembles equipment, and is able to use instruction manuals.
- Ensures that all vendors, contractors and visitors brought on site comply with appropriate HSE, Security policies and rules.
- Uses and coordinates outside services for more involved and complex work, allowing safe and effective completion of jobs required.
- Assigns and distributes work to maintenance operators, and accounts for proper allocation of man hours.
- Works with HSE, Production and Logistics to embed the PSM framework.
- Provides technical guidance to other employees.
- Communicates targets and continuously measures and communicates status against these targets.
- Holds maintenance operators accountable for 5S standards and improvements at the job sites and the maintenance department.
- Is the champion for driving operational equipment effectiveness and equipment reliability.
- Effectively builds and/or improves the site preventative maintenance, work order and CMMS system.
- Reports on progress on a continuous base.
- Manages and plans relevant budgets and proactively manages costs.
- Inspires commitment to AkzoNobel’s purpose, vision, strategy, core principles, values and leadership behaviors.
- Acts as an ambassador and creates an open environment in which the team as a whole and its members individually can perform at their best.
- Stimulates, manages and follows through on employee engagement and builds on the workforce to reflect the societies and markets in which we do business (D&I).
- Ensures that job profiles are in place, sets objectives for team members, reviews development and provides clear, open and constructive feedback on performance combined with the appropriate actions.
- Strengthens the talent pipeline by developing talent and regularly assesses and discusses talent and internal movement and professional development. Continuously monitors and evaluates retention risk
- Works with CI / ALPS and Maintenance Operators to improve maintenance efficiency and implements continuous improvement of inventory levels of technical materials and spare parts.
- HSE as a manager :
- Lead by example as a head of his team in all matters relating to HSE&S.
- Be aware of the HSE&S requirements of team members job, ensuring that they receive training.
- Promote an appropriate working environment ensuring the implementation of the vision, policies and requirements of HSE&S.
- Communicate and confirm the correct implementation of the vision, policies and procedures for HSE & S. Audits to enforce standards and correct deficiencies.
About You
- Bachelor's degree: Industrial Engineering, specialty mechanical, electrical, …
- Between 2 and 5 years of experience in similar position, in Chemical/Industry sector.
- Advance level in English.
- Digital Tools knowledge: Microsoft Office, SAP; knowledge in work orders’ schedule softwares will be appreciated.
- High organization skills.
- Technical capacities and knowledge of electrical, mechanical, automatisation and maintenance schedule will be also highly appreciated.
- Residence in the local area will be appreciated.
