What will you do?
We are now looking for a Technical Service Representative to join our team in Finland. In this role, you will act as the technical expert in customer projects, ensuring high-quality application of coatings and alignment between all involved stakeholders. You will work closely with sales and play an important role in supporting the Marine Coatings business through your technical expertise.
You will be involved in marine projects such as new builds and M&R dry-dockings, as well as occasional assignments within Protective Coatings. Your key stakeholders include ship owners and operators, shipyards, and coating application contractors.
Key responsibilities
• Provide on-site technical service and support for marine coating applications
• Ensure alignment between all stakeholders regarding technical requirements and execution
• Inspect surfaces, application processes and completed work, and document findings in technical reports
• Advise on product selection, application methods and climatic conditions for successful coating performance
• Act as technical support to the sales organization, contributing to business development
• Work hands-on in the field within marine projects, including supervision and quality control
• Deliver training and share technical knowledge with colleagues and external partners
• Ensure compliance with company and site-specific health, safety and environmental regulations
Employment details
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Finland, with frequent travel primarily within the country and occasionally across the region and globally depending on project location. Most of your working time will be spent in Finland.
You will be offered a home office setup, and it is preferable that you are located in the south/ west part of Finland. You will report to the Technical Service Manager, Marine Northeast Europe and be part of a highly skilled and collaborative team of technicians, working closely with sales, customer service and central functions.
Who you are?
We are looking for a technically skilled professional with a strong business understanding and the ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholders. You are comfortable working in a hands-on, field-based role and know how to balance technical quality with customer needs and commercial priorities.
You are structured in your way of working, understand the importance of planning and reporting, and enjoy collaborating with others to achieve strong results.
Key Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical service, marine coatings supervision or QC within Marine or Protective Coatings
• Solid knowledge of corrosion protection and coating systems
• Practical, hands-on experience (“in the field”) within marine or industrial environments
• Knowledge of paint application methods (e.g. brush, roller, airless and conventional spray) and surface preparation techniques (e.g. abrasive blasting, UHP, power tools)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers and stakeholders
• Fluent in Finnish and English, both written and spoken
• Structured and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Qualifications Considered an Advantage
• Experience from shipbuilding or M&R dry-docking projects
• Certification such as NACE Level 2 or FROSIO Level 3
• Experience in delivering technical training or presentations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
