Job Purpose

 

The Polymer Process Technology Manager positions are responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining all of the Technology & Engineering standards related to powder coatings operations.

 

  • Build process knowledge and capabilities across the powder coatings network through definition, deployment and coaching of best practices
  • Be the technology licensor in large powder coating investment projects; supporting project teams in high level design and technology selection
  • Partner with procurement function and key suppliers to benefit from economies of scale, establish common equipment standards/specifications and drive a common development/innovation program for key equipment
  • Lead scoping, piloting and development of innovative technology or equipment solutions for powder coating operations, establishing basis of design, design and operating principles, equipment requirements and outline business cases, culminating in a repeatable codified standard for deployment across the network
  • Build technology & engineering standard understanding & capabilities across the organization through facilitation of best practice transfer and communication via the Reference Group(s) and stakeholders



Primary KPI:

  • Powder coatings Engineering & Technology Standards developed, approved by reference group and published

 

Secondary KPI:

  • Number of exceptions granted to the published process or engineering/technology standards
  • Number of key supplier innovations piloted and deployed

Key Accountabilities

 

 

  • Develop, communicate, and maintain the powder process best practices required to drive excellence in powder coatings manufacturing operations
  • Ensure the materials and approaches are operations centric and address the needs of all sites by establishing and leading Reference Group(s) of key stakeholders.
  • Build capability in powder process engineering, continuous improvement, and asset optimization
  • Develop and drive innovation and development plans with identified key suppliers to deliver process improvement, innovation and cost reductions
  • Support and guide the implementation of the Engineering & Technology standards across the powder coatings network by acting as technology licensor and by coaching local project/engineering teams
  • Participate in site master planning sessions to define 3 - 5yr development plans and embed leading edge technology where applicable
  • Lead the validation of new technology and the first introduction of new standards to achieve a repeatable, proven and scalable solution

Key Activities

 

Sets and maintains technology & engineering standards for AN powder coating manufacture

Interacts with stakeholders at site and regional level to determine appropriate technology solutions for sites.

Experience

 

  • > 10 years of experience in Powder coatings manufacturing, or similar extrusion and dry milling operations (project management, maintenance/engineering & operations management)
  • Technical university degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering
  • Work experience as a technical manager and/or operations management
  • A data driven, continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical abilities
  • Strong skills in project planning and execution in an international environment.
  • Ability to multitask and lead change in challenging times
  • Excellent problem solving and risk management skills
  • Coaching and influencing skills in a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills 
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
