Job Purpose

The Regional Technical Services Manager will contribute to the execution and profitability targets established by the MPY Business within the Middle East and Africa region.  He/She will be required to be proactive and professional in delivering high quality technical support to internal and external customers

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver training to customers on the use and application of the company products, equipment and documentation both on-site at the customer’s location.
  • Develop and execute Technical help desk for customers both Marine and PC
  • Support Interspec approvals for the entire region.
  • Conduct demonstrations of products and transfer the knowledge on AkzoNobel processes as well as on technical problem solving to both internal and external customers.
  • Perform product testing for customers as well as internal customers.
  • Perform technical audits at designated customers and across the region.
  • Proactively prevent and solve problems of a technical nature occurring at existing customers across the region
  • Conduct and/or assist in the testing process as well as in the implementation of new products and technologies.
  • Synchronize own activities with all departments using CRM, up-dates the key customers’ databases with valid, accurate and complete information (visits, products, equipment etc.)
  • Synchronize with the technical department in handling complex technical issues and in educating customers on solutions.
  • Help to support product development with prototype selection advice and test market execution. Maintain allocated technical company equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist sales department in the implementation of sales strategies and within key phases of the sales process, giving technical expert knowledge to their prospects across the region.
  • Promote the positive company image and develops long-term relations with customers.
  • Link in with the UK technical desk for support on PC and Marine.
  • Link in with Product Manager on new product technology as well as phased out products.
  • Support with PC05 and Life time statements.


  • 5-7 years technical and application experience in the paints and coatings industry;
  • strong analytical problem-solving skills;
  • High school education or bachelor degree minimum NACE 3 level or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to interface with customer and all levels within organizational structure;
  • Able to travel internationally and domestic. 
  • Candidates must be able to use a laptop and be competent in Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Applicants should also have sufficient computer literacy to be able to use our in-house systems.
  • Fluency in English is essential, any local languages are an advantage.
  • Local Driving license essential
