Position Summary:

The R&D Specialist I supports daily project tasks and lab work requests under supervision. The employee will be efficient at working with defined processes, spraying and testing paint systems according to customer specifications.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, applies, and evaluates paint or paint related materials to identify physical and chemical attributes.
  • Maintain equipment and trouble shoot as necessary
  • Asks appropriate questions to clarify requirements, expectations and critical performance parameters.
  • Documents (lab) results, visits, etc. through appropriate reporting systems, reports outcome to manager and/or peers
  • familiar with relevant experimental, development and/or analytical approaches and techniques
  • Complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.


  • Minimally high school diploma or general education degree (GED).   Prefer 1-2 years related college education or a college degree from an unrelated field. 
  • Ability to understand and interpret documents, keep detailed records and execute instructions. 
  • Basic mathematical skills and computer skills such as MS office.
