Job Purpose

This position will be primarily responsible to support the efficient day to day operations of the main 3PL( 3rd party logistics) Distribution Centre in Melbourne Australia, the ANZ wide distribution to hubs/customers and coordinating Export into New Zealand.

Key Accountabilities

Support 3PL operation to gain maximum efficiency to meet ANZ Distribution targets and customer expectations

Monitor 3PL KPI reports conducting monthly reviews, forming action plans to address gaps, and monitoring continuous improvement objectives.

Lead customer complaint investigations, create action plans to address gaps and monitor control put in place

Conduct regular HSE and Quality audits on 3PL and Transport providers maintaining full compliance with HSE/Quality standards set by the Functions. Use of Incident report system and root cause analysis skills are required.

Maintain a high standard of customer service through effective communication and coordination with the 3PL, Customer Service teams and Commercial colleagues.

Facilitate monthly combined CS/3PL continuous improvement meetings and objectives.

Monitor Transport costs ex-Melbourne and within Victoria to ensure adherence to rate card, creating PO’s for various Transport providers and approving Invoices received.

Monitor Transport provider KPI’s including but not limited to; DIFOT, complaint follow up, claims/compensation regarding Damages and facilitate review meeting processes.

Work closely with the Supply Planning team to maximize truck loads ex-3PL and manufacturing facility for direct delivery into Hubs and other WH facilities.

Work closely with Supply Planning, Demand, IMPEX and 3PL teams to consolidate and maximize Container utilization for Export into New Zealand across all Business Units.

Act as single point of contact for Export queries, coordination and bookings working closely with relevant functions.

SAP fluency with requirements for Customer Service, Logistics & Planning/Supply is required.  

Identify and complete Logistics related cost saving and CI projects within required timeline and according to Budget.

Maintain close contact with sales staff and maintain a good working relationship with all internal/external staff/customers, specifically the Sales and CS teams that are based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Become familiar with Akzo Nobel processes in Procurement, IT support, Accounts Payable and Account Receivable.

Key Activities

Highly autonomous role which requires working closely with sales staff and customers (internal and external) and other functions in the region. 

Frequent travel between AkzoNobel manufacturing facility in Sunshine and 3PL Distribution Centre in Tottenham is required.


Previous experience in a similar role

Some experience in managing exports

Extensive experience in Customer service, warehousing & logistics

Knowledgeable in SAP Logistics and Enterprise to Enterprise (E2E) order / distribution processes

Strong knowledge in large scale Distribution networks across Australia

Experience in 3rd Party Logistics coordination.

Good problem-solving and continuous improvement skills

Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams and able to work cross functionally.

Strong levels of resilience, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision, drive for results and quality oriented.
