Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that adequate resources and capability (people and processes) reside within the business to manage business relationships with nominated Key Accounts (current customers and new prospects) where the business has significant dependency on the accounts from a strategic perspective.  Provides high level technical support.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and execute Key Account Plan globally aligned with Regional/Global Segment and Marketing plan
  • Manage local Key Account contracts and support Global Key Account Manager on contracts and tenders
  • Support local Key Account in alignment with Global Key Account Manager
  • Deliver financial Key Performance Indicators from budget to actual regional Profit and Loss
  • Deliver financial Key Performance Indicators from budget to actual consolidated global Key Account Profit and Loss
  • Drive innovation through Key Account
  • Develop relevant Commercial pipeline for respective Key Account
  • Closely follow and manage Key Account demand plan to meet SFI and KPI targets
  • Regularly calls on assigned existing and potential accounts to maintain close contact with the marketplace
  • Develop and maintain contact map within each Key Account – at all reporting level and across all functions
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including relevant teams at the Key Accounts to prioritize new developments, make plans for trials, etc.
  • Steward new business development projects opposite Key Account requirements
  • Provides information to customer service regarding customers
  • Arranges for and monitors quality of technical support provided by the technical team for inquiries, product tests, training, and resolution of complaints
  • Maintain active presence with assigned Key Account and prospective Key Account
  • Manage relationship between AkzoNobel and Key Account
  • Plan own schedule and travel within AkzoNobel guidelines

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or additional relevant work experience
7 years’ experience in commercial job function or key account management.  Prior coatings or food packaging experience a plus.  Established networks and relations within the Packaging segment preferredMust possess commercial and business acumen as well as an understanding of cross functional processes and financial concepts related to sales and cost to serve
Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
Effective project management skills.  Must be able to manage stakeholders
Effective communication and presentation skills
Ability to create value propositions
Must be driven and results-oriented
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management systems required
Ability to travel 60%. Overnight travel may be required

Assigned Territory

This position will support 5-8 key accounts located throughout the United States.
