Job Purpose
Provide key analytical data to Research and Development, Technical Service and Supply chain to support new product development and existing products, process and raw material optimization, and resolution of customer complaints.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform both standard and novel laboratory tests using appropriate analytical instruments and methods. This work includes pre and post-experiment calculations, sample preparation, as well as preparing detailed reports. Statistical analysis of data may be required. A chromatography, specifically LC-MS, background is preferred.
- Interact with the AkzoNobel technical community (chemists, formulators, engineers) and Research and Development managers. Will attend cross-discipline meetings as required.
- Contribute to personal growth by continuing to expand knowledge of analytical insutrmentation and theory through in-house training, attending training courses, or professional society meetings.
- Conform with all site and laboratory safety requirements and policies.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred. Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
- 3 years' laboratory experience in an industrial laboratory. Additional academic experience may be considered in lieu of laboratory work experience.
- Ability to operate advanced analytical equipment. Previous experience in the use of spectroscopy or various chromotology instruments preferred. Will use generated data to solve customer or production problems and support research goals.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation as needed. Hands-on mechanical skills are preferred.
- Must be able to maintain detailed records on all projects.
- Effective organizational and project management skills with the ability to deliver results on schedule. Must be able to work across functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Rewards and Benefits
The salary range for these skills is $90,000.00 - $95,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
