Job Purpose

• To design, execute and carry out practical experiments, in line with department, R&D project and functional standards.
• Maintains and promotes a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both
the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.
• Provide analytical support to procurement, production, customer complaint, specification/certification and local product development teams in South Asia region.

Key Accountabilities

• Individual must be able to excel in cross-functional working environment and ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle multiple projects at once.
• Recognize and resolve issues through knowledge, use of technical resources including technical literature.
• Good knowledge in Paint types and their curing mechanism e.g. Epoxy, acrylic etc.
• Able to analyze, investigate and report the root cause of coating failure to customer.
• Good theoretical knowledge and troubleshooting skill on of analytical instruments e.g. FTIR, SEM-EDX, DSC, GCMS etc.
• Involve in HSES initiatives such as BBS, MOC, HSE audits, Permit to work etc.
• Work safely in the lab with full compliance to all HSES policies and procedures.
• Create and maintain SOPs including relevant HSE procedures. Conduct training and validate competency of relevant users.
• Manage analytical requests to meet customer/business requirements.
• Supports Formulation request within South Asia region when required.


• Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent
• Possess a logical and independent mind with strong administrative traits.
• Academic focus on analytical chemistry or material science
• Good knowledge on failure analysis on coatings
• Experience with wet chemistry / analytical instruments
• Demonstrate good problem-solving and coordination skills
• Strong initiative, good team working and is a self-starter
• Good written and oral communication skills
