Job Purpose

This management role is responsible for AkzoNobel’s regional logistics sourcing (including strategy, supplier selection and relationship management), as well as spend management (business awarding, contracting, risk management, QDCIS improvement) including transport, warehousing and 4PL where applicable, and providing regional logistics market and supplier management expertise to AkzoNobel to ensure uninterrupted and timely supply against optimum & benchmarked costs based on agreed business requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Responsible for the development and deployment of sourcing activities regionally in alignment with AN’s objectives and ALPS Source

Responsible for commercial activities with AN’s suppliers including contract negotiation, management, development, approval, implementation and maintenance

Creating and deploying applicable regional sourcing strategies (regional SSMs) per the category roadmap; Contributing to global sourcing strategies definition (global SSMs) as regional representative and/or as a category expert.

Responsible for the spend management of all logistics spend purchased by AkzoNobel in his/her region

  • Responsible for world-class supplier relationship management of key suppliers in his/her portfolio, directly managing top suppliers for his/her area of responsibility
  • Developing and implementing Procurement Excellence within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Supplier selection and QDCIS improvement.
  • Developing a rich pipeline of cost reduction projects per AN Sourcing Financial objectives, and drive project maturing until execution by global logistics or regional teams.
  • Supply risk mitigation and management.
  • Delegating to regional procurement/logistics specialists applicable spend
  • Upon assignment by the Sourcing Director: KSM for key global supplier(s) based in the region
  • Regular KPI and financial result reporting

Key Activities

To provide AkzoNobel with logistics market expertise, including insights and forecasting as required by budgeting/forecasting/reporting processes, and translation of new developments/concepts from the market into new opportunities

Benchmarking current and future pricing, maintaining up to date cost models

Become the recognized specialist / category manager for a specific logistics mode/category concentrated in his/her region, coordinating best practice within the region and across other regions

Acting as key-interface between sourcing, global and regional logistics teams

Driving standardization of contracts in collaboration with legal and logistics functions

Represent the global category in regional cross-functional forums and programs


Degree in Supply Chain or other relevant discipline or equivalent qualification

Minimum 2 years of experience within a Dynamic Multi National BtB and/or BtC Supply Chain organization

Relevant experience in negotiating, contracting and managing Logistics in different parts of the region and the different sub-segments of Logistics (Transport – Road / Sea / Air / Expedite & Warehousing)

Experience in defining and executing supply chain / sourcing strategies

Proven success in driving supplier cost, quality and delivery performance improvement programs

Understanding of the regional logistics category, suppliers, market trends, cost drivers and technologies

Strong analytical skills

Effective interpersonal skills with ability to influence and guide others

Professional communication skills (including written & spoken English language)

Stress resistance, flexible, problem solving attitude with a strong focus on results

Ability to work at various levels of the organization
