Job Purpose

The job holder is involved deeply in providing efficient and quality support for technical development, technical service, pilot plant, manufacturing teams across all divisions in Asia Pacific Region.

The main role for the candidate with chemical analytic technical focus on characterizing and evaluating the paint and coating products.

The job holder also assists the line manager in the ongoing provision of new analytical and testing capabilities.

To ensure that the work are carried out professionally and that the outputs are delivered and recorded in ta timely manner.

Work closely with R&D and Business teams to provide analytical support for product development and customer problem solving cases.

To ensure that all activities in their area of responsibility are conducted within the SSHE policy of AkzoNobel.

Key Accountabilities

To ensure all activities are conducted under the guidelines of SSHE.

To be responsible for analyzing the chemical structure of coating products and/or raw materials employing various instrumental techniques, such as NMR, IR, pyrolysis GCMS, LCMS, etc.

Familiar with material characterization and solve the characterization problem.

Ensure instrument in good condition, fulfill maintenance and calibration responsibility.

Keep a consistent quality of work and ensure effective delivery of results.

Communicate and cooperate well with other team members to provide analytical support to business, maintain good relationship with clients.



At least 3-5 years working experience in NMR analysis.

Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic or Polymer chemistry.

Experience in material characterization.

Practical and theoretical knowledge in spectrometry (i.e. FTIR, NMR).

Preferably knowledge and experience with chromatography, such as LC/MS and pyrolysis GC/MS.

Good understanding and practical knowledge in organic chemistry and polymer chemistry.

Good knowledge in ISO17025 and quality leader.

Ability to present results comprehensively in reports and oral presentation.

Good communication skills required in dealing with team members, customers and colleagues from other departments and sites.

Good ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English and IT skills.
