Location: Sassenheim, NL

Company: AkzoNobel

Our world class portfolio of brands - including Dulux, International, Sikkens and Interpon - is trusted by customers around the globe. Headquartered in the Netherlands, we are active in over 150 countries and employ around 34,500 talented people who are passionate about delivering the high-performance products and services our customers expect.

Note

As our planners develop their careers and move on, we are continuously looking to hire new talented planners.

Do you get excited by supply chains that serve millions of customers? That connect an incredible number of suppliers, manufacturing locations and warehouses with these customers all across Europe? Are you keen on making these networks function as smooth as possible from the beating heart of our supply chain organization? On working closely together with other supply chain planners and many more stakeholders from all over our organization? Boosting your capabilities, your network and your career potential? Then we have something for you!

From our Above Market Planning center (AMP) in Sassenheim our supply planners collaborate with our main stakeholders in demand, manufacturing, logistics, procurement and external suppliers. We integrate their plans and capacities into a set of supply plans that optimally serve our customers and control our supply chain costs, while taking constraints of reality into account. We do this both longer-term (2 years) at an aggregated level and short-term (coming weeks) at a more granular level. On a daily basis we review and update the plans in our dynamic environment.

Our department serves the business units of Decorative Paints and Automotive & Specialty Coatings. Within supply planning we have 4 different roles:

  • Production Planning: you develop and own the plans for a paints/coatings production site, focusing on serving customer demand while making efficient use of resources on site
  • Material Planning: you ensure the raw materials and packaging needed to achieve the production plan are available on time. You develop strong relationships and manage performance with suppliers and procurement.
  • Products for Resale (PFR) Planning: you ensure availability of the products that we sell alongside our paints and coatings but that we do not produce ourselves, such as spray paints, paint samples, brushes or tape.
  • Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP): specific for Automotive & Specialty Coatings you ensure the optimized distribution of products from the central warehouse to the different warehouses across a complex global distribution network.

The supply planning teams in our AMP department are a highly diverse mix of over 60 supply chain enthusiasts with over 20 different nationalities from across the globe. As diverse as our backgrounds and identities are, we are strongly connected via a shared mindset that can be characterized as ambitious, proactive, informal and above all collaborative.

What can you expect from us?

The department is highly committed to the personal and professional growth of our planners, and their career development towards becoming our future leaders or experts. We therefore actively encourage and facilitate:

  • frequent coaching and feedback sessions
  • extensive trainings, both on hard and soft skills
  • continuous improvement and participation in (cross-functional) projects
  • making horizontal and vertical career steps, both in- and outside our department.

What do you bring?

To apply for this exciting opportunity for taking your career to the next level, you should have:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain or Operations, or alternative Master with a convincing motivation for supply chain
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A sharp analytical mind, able to translate challenges into numbers and numbers into conclusions
  • Ability to handle pressure that comes with taking high-impact decisions between trade-offs
  • An open-minded and flexible approach necessary to learn and succeed within our dynamic, multicultural environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Not essential, but a clear advantage:

  • Working experience in supply chain
  • Familiarity with ERP-systems like SAP
  • Fluency in another language spoken in certain European countries

Become part of an outstanding company
