Purpose of the Job

The R&D Specialist III in the Expertise Center Waterborne is responsible for the design, planning & execution of experiments and reporting of results and conclusions. As part of a project team contribute to the realization of objectives of research projects. He or she works in projects under the supervision of a project leader. The specialist III reports to the team leader in the Expertise Center Waterborne.

Key Responsibilities

The R&D Specialist III in the Expertise Center Waterborne is responsible for the design, planning & execution of experiments and reporting of results and conclusions. As part of a project team contribute to the realization of objectives of research projects. He or she works in projects under the •    Plan, execute and evaluate experiments, with responsibility for the experimental part of (a) project(s).
•    Delivering project results on time, ensuring quality and feasibility
•    Correct use of methodologies, tools and systems
•    Make lab notes, memo’s and present results in project team meetings.
•    Perform new activities under supervision.
•    Set up and perform an experimental design for the dedicated development direction and the technological possibilities.
•    Executes work in an organized way. Draw up the necessary hypotheses.
•    Contribute to the protection of AkzoNobel technologies
•    Maintains and promotes a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe

What do you bring?

•    Bachelor/Higher Vocational (HBO) with significant work experience, in the field of chemistry or chemical engineering.
•    The candidate ideally has experience with waterborne paints/coatings formulation, testing methods and tools
•    Interested to work with non-standard problems
•    Critical attitude in assessing set-up and results of experimental work
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, problem solving attitude
•    Good English language skills, verbal and written 
•    Pro-active and self-starter
