Job Purpose

To co-design, prepare, execute and analyse output of practical experiments, in line with the department, project and functional standards. Can act as member of a project team, contributing to the realization of objectives of research/development/support projects.


 

Key responsibilities

•   Work on development, support, improvement and optimization of the product portfolio.
•    Interpreting of research results and giving recommendations concerning further steps 
•    Takes ownership to solve challenges in a structured and effective way.
•    Maintain contacts with raw material suppliers and other institutions for product development; be aware of current developments of HSE and EU regulations
•    Direct and close cooperation with commercial and operations departments (production/QC/color development) 
•    Participate in multi-disciplinary product introduction teams 
•    Collaboration within the Business Unit and within AkzoNobel 
•    Acquiring and broadening knowledge of coatings technology

What do you bring?

  • Education: bachelor or masters degree level in chemistry or related field. Nevertheless persons with demonstrable successful experience in product developments are also challenged to apply.
  • Prior 1-3 years work experience within a coatings (or related) R&D organization is preferred
  • Candidate should be able to work independently in a dynamic explorative environment.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a structured and solution-oriented way
  • Pro-active and decisive
  • Is able to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Deals effectively with changing priorities
  • Robust personality and stress resistant
  • Open mind, good team player
  • Fluent English (oral and written)
  • Proficient with computers and office software
