In short (Purpose of the job)

Bring your research and knowledge-building skills to a forward-thinking research environment

AkzoNobel is a global leader in the area of Paints and Coatings. This success is based on the highest levels of research and innovation. Central to this research capability is the Technology group in which several Expertise Centers work on challenging research projects to develop new and innovative coating concepts for the global Paints & Coatings market and create more fundamental understanding for these.
We are looking for 3 Researchers for two of these teams: the Expertise Center Corrosion and the Expertise Center Waterborne. In the Expertise Center Corrosion the focus is on developing and understanding the corrosion protective properties of coatings, whereas the Expertise Center Waterborne focuses primarily on new waterborne concepts. These positions are based in Sassenheim, the Netherlands

Within this context, your mission in one of these roles is to find solutions for our waterborne and/or corrosion challenges as part of a project team and lead projects on the development of new coating technologies. In particular, you draw on literature and interaction with AkzoNobel R&D experts from around the globe, to deepen the understanding and propose novel approaches for the research project. With this work insights are developed that will lead to new concepts, improved research methodology and more fundamental understanding of corrosion protection and/or waterborne paints & coatings. You will report to one of the team leaders or managers in the Expertise Center, and work on projects across the team.

As such, this is an exciting position for candidates with the energy and ambition to help a world-leading research team to develop breakthrough products for the global market.
