R&D Specialist III

Job Purpose

The R&D Specialist III is responsible for  executing, and analyzing research elements to develop and improve aerospace-related products in alignment with the business and R&D strategy. This role involves collaborating with various departments, including Sales, Marketing, or Production, , to gain insights into new developments and contribute to research and development projects. Effective communication skills are crucial for liaising with internal and external stakeholders and presenting research findings to customers. In this role you will report to the R&D Team Leader.
 

Responsibilities

• Safety and Compliance:
  • Maintains a safe work environment, adheres to safety policies and procedures, and ensures personal and equipment safety.
  • Follows quality standards set by Lab management (e.g., AS9100) and promotes compliance within the team.
• Research and Development:
  • Plans, executes and analyzes, experiments within the unit.
  • Takes ownership of assigned subjects and actively participates in projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of technical results.
  • Keeps current methods up to date and preserves knowledge through research reports.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborates with other departments, suppliers, and customers to support research activities and projects.
  • Represents R&D in cross-functional project teams.
  • Interacts with suppliers and customers, maintaining professional relationships.
• Intellectual Property and Team Leadership:
  • Ensures protection of AkzoNobel technologies by adhering to IP laws and patent applications.
  • Provides functional guidance to technician/specialist level team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field with 3-6 years of paint and coating related working experience, OR Master’s Degree in Chemistry or related field with up to one year of paint and coating related working experience.
• Preferred experience in Aerospace coatings.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including expert level knowledge in Excel and Databases.
• Strong planning and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
