For our site in Sassenheim, the Netherlands, we are looking for a Commercial Quality Manager.

 

As our Commercial Quality Manager you will:

 

  • Manages and develops the commercial side of the quality process and supporting systems for a business unit segment or region to ensure that customer and market requirements with respect to quality are obtained and the organization is capable to achieve the targets of the business. 
  • Works with the Global Commercial Quality Manager as an advocate for the business and to align processes, systems, and tools across the BU when it makes sense. Commercial Quality Specialists, Process Specialists or Leads can be assigned to this position as needed.  The position can also have business segment responsibilities across regions to ensure visibility and reporting at global segment level and for the alignment, achievement, and adherence to the defined segment strategy with respect to quality elements.
     


 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide ownership or support to ensure that the necessary quality management system and applicable certifications are in place in support of the necessary customer and market needs. 
  • Manage and develop the commercial side of the customer complaints and claims system in line with external standards, internal management requirements and AkzoNobel systems.  
  • Ensures abnormal and faulty situations triggered by customer complaints are prioritized, investigated, and resolved by responsible personnel in a timely and effective manner, utilizing root cause problem solving methodologies.  
  • Manage the customer triggered quality assessments, surveys etc. as well audits triggered by key customers.  
  • Ensure that issues highlighted are addressed promptly and efficiently, so that the right disciplines are engaged for proper resolution.  Includes the management and follow-up from customer scorecards and surveys back into the organization serving as the voice of the customer.
  • Quality related project management: Lead or support quality related improvement projects with customers and/or internal functions. Provide the customer quality perspective in production transfers and reallocation as well as new product launches and significant product modifications.
  • Manage monthly reporting, analysis and action tracking involving key department managers and other commercial and ISC quality personnel.  This includes the development of KPI’s and targets with functional leads serving as the advocate to Commercial/ Business personnel.  Works to ensure that reporting integrity is sound, data sources are identified and defined; makes recommendations to ensure reporting brings value, identifies issues/trends in advance to mitigate risk, and we prioritize resources to reduce costs.  
  • Continuous Improvement:  Drive the continuous improvement activities and develop protocols and metrics to measure progress against agreed goals and timelines.  
  • Identify deficiencies in existing skills and coordinate and/or deliver training to increase competence and effectiveness of the commercial and technical teams.

What do you bring?

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a technical (Chemistry, Engineering, …) or relevant field. 
  • Background in paints and coatings industry beneficial;, 8-10 years of work experience in quality, commercial-technical,or sales project management roles. 
  • Qualifications or experience in Quality Systems, ISO9001 & and quality improvement tools required; Lead Auditor certifications, IATF 16949, AS9100, exposure beneficial.
  • Confidence and ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.  Experience in customer interface, negotiations and contracting related to quality, complaints and claims beneficial.
  • Effective communication, presentation, training, project management and facilitation skills in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment.
  • Proven troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills/methodology.  
  • Attention to detail, process oriented, continuous improvement, data management and analysis mindset. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate project teams as needed to ensure a sense of urgency and efficient/professional approach is afforded. 
  • Proficient in computer applications – MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and SharePoint at a minimum; ERP system experience beneficial (SAP, other).
  • Experience/familiarity with FMEA’s, Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing principles beneficial.
  • Fluent spoken and written English needed: ability to communicate fluently with international customers and with the group.
  • Travel expected from this position; estimated 10%.
  • Skills – Leadership, stakeholder management, project management, collaboration, pragmatic approach, drive, results oriented, communication and commercial and business acumen. Understanding of financial concepts related to sales and cross functional processes.
