Job Purpose
A varied and integral role to keep the Automotive and Aerospace product appearance up-to-date for a Label Specialist with eye for detail.
AkzoNobel’s Automotive and Specialty Coatings business unit (BU) provides innovative paints, color technologies and value added services to Vehicles Refinishes, Commercial Vehicle/Transportation , Automotive, Aerospace and Consumer Electronic markets. Among our Vehicle Refinishes products are leading brands such as Sikkens®, Lesonal®, Wanda® and Dynacoat®.
The Automotive and Specialty Coatings product label team supports the label creation for Vehicle Refinishes (VR), Commercial Vehicles/Transportation as well for the Aerospace and Automotive business to ensure the right appearance and correct legal content on packaging to distribute and sell our products to customers worldwide.
This role is based at our large site at Sassenheim, the Netherlands.
The Product Label Specialist will:
- Process / create product label artwork for the manufacturing plants in the world after branding, regulatory changes or as part of a workflow assignment to setup new or change materials.
- Process and update product data to obtain the correct product label output.
- Agree and coordinate with stake holders as product management, manufacturing, logistics and procurement to process new label designs and label materials.
- Facilitates requests from internal departments to handle questions about product labels (designs, manufacturing adaptations, legal changes, complaints).
- Participate as representative in projects concerning product labels.
- Work together with Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance with country specific label regulations worldwide and process the impact in the label design.
- The product label artwork will mostly be processed via automation following agreed branding guidelines and specific regulations; there is no artistic freedom involved to create label designs.

Key responsibilities
As a Label Specialist for the Vehicle Refinishes, Commercial Vehicles and Transportation, Aerospace and Automotive Segment, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining label software and databases, creating and modifying label artwork in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, and supporting label artwork creation through processing requests and designing labels. Apply specific label regulations for various countries to ensure compliance and facilitate requests from internal departments regarding label designs, manufacturing adaptations, legal changes, and complaints.
Additionally, you will participate in projects as a product label representative, process required artwork/material data in a usable format for toll manufacturing/suppliers, and support the improvement of applied IT tooling. Finally, you will need to be familiar with all applicable corporate and site policies/procedures related to personal conduct and HSE standards, and act in compliance with all regulations.
What do you bring?
You should have a technical and/or graphical education, MBO+ / HBO level, or equivalent work experience. Have a good understanding of legal and regulatory requirements and ideally you should be based around Sassenheim, The Netherlands.
You should have excellent skills in PowerPoint and Excel, and knowledge about artwork creation with DTP software using the Adobe software suite is a plus. Also involvement in software programming (like Visual Studio or scripting) is a plus. Additionally, you must be fluent in both Dutch and English, a team player with good interpersonal skills, and have an understanding and sensitivity to different cultural behaviors. A highly structured approach to work is also necessary to excel in this role.
