Within Research and Development, the Color Center develops and maintains color software applications and color databases for our paints and coatings business throughout the world. These color software applications are used to support processes in all functions of the organization in which color and color accuracy is an essential and decisive factor. We provide all functions with adequate solutions to improve the efficiency of these processes.

Within this context, your mission in this role is maintain existing software and to work on business critical, international projects for new color software development. You will manage maintenance programs for multiple internal software applications and databases. Furthermore, you will lead IT development projects where multiple disciplines are involved and which connects to a variety of software packages.

Key responsibilities

The role is based in the research facility in Sassenheim, the Netherlands and is part of the Color Technical Color Infrastructure team.
Your core task is to manage the maintenance programs for multiple internal software applications and databases within approved budgets and within agreed time period. Furthermore you will be leading projects to deliver new software applications and solutions.

Thus You

•    Makes sure that processes within the application are continuously available and that the application is monitored
•    Leads IT development projects where multiple disciplines are involved and which connects to multiple software packages
•    Ensures the development and technical management of multiple internal software/database applications
•    Works closely with all functions in the global and local organisations to ensure effective deployment of AkzoNobel’s color infrastructure and application 
•    Provides necessary technical support (1st line problem solving) and training
•    Manages the plans (year plan) of functional adaptations related to color software & databases development. Safeguard planning and budget
•    Write maintenance plans and organize the necessary resources including a.o. well-defined goal, milestones and planning 
•    Makes inventories of customer and stakeholder requirements/expectations and manage these requirements/expectations
•    Create and update use cases, test scenario’s, test data, technical documentation and user manuals
•    Write progress and status reports with early communication in case of deviations in planning

Level of autonomy

•    Prioritization of maintenance activities for the responsible tools
•    Alignment of activities with other application owners / stakeholders
•    Project management for several projects which are lead.

Job requirements

•    Bachelor degree in IM/IT/Business IM 
•    Minimal 5 years appropriate experience in IT, preferably in color and the paint business
•    Good understanding of market requirements and business and IT processes in other functions such as marketing/RD&I
•    Proven project management and analytical skills, knows procedures and tools
•    Proven capabilities to work cross-functional and cross-cultural.
•    Good communication and presentation skills (in English).
•    Ability to develop and maintain a network across all functions and BU’s of AkzoNobel)
