You will be part of GBS IM Services, which is responsible for providing seamless End-to-End IT services to our business units and end-users across the globe. Much of this service delivery is outsourced to external strategic partners and a central part of the role is to ensure the quality of services delivered by these partners.

This role is based in Sassenheim, the Netherlands, from where you are responsible for the delivery and service management of both infrastructure and application Digital (DevOps) services in such a way as to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.

This requires you to:

  • Increase user and customer satisfaction by handling all service, incident and change requests efficiently and professionally; 
  • Perform forecast (sprint) planning;
  • Assume responsibility for the management of DevOps teams from suppliers and execution of SLA’s towards the customers, ensuring that these are met;
  • Guard the digital (IT) landscape for digital service operations;
  • Perform the ongoing analysis, documentation, management and reporting of incidents and requests in daily operations;
  • Ensure appropriate and accurate communication to the business and IT support staff, including work schedules and instructions etc.

At all times you cooperate with delivery managers of other domains to create a superior End-to-End service experience. In doing so you embody a service mindset that goes beyond the technical to understand the issues from a business/user’s perspective. Further, you stay abreast of all external trends and contribute to the operational integrity of AkzoNobel globally through continuous improvement.

This requires you to:

  • Monitor and evaluate feedback in order to develop and coordinate improvement processes;
  • Recognize the potential of strategic application of IT solutions/assets;
  • Drive knowledge management and value extraction within the digital domain;
  • Ensure that work instructions are provided, that work schedules are established and that adequate resources are assigned to ensure effective end-to-end service delivery, this to be able to meet customer specifications and service levels.

It is essential that you are able to remain neutral toward technology, vendor and product choices, being more interested in results than in personal preferences. You should also be able to balance the long- and short-term implications of individual decisions, seeing the whole picture (helicopter view) whilst also focusing on the detail.


To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:

  • Master/Bachelor degree in Business Management, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering;
  • At least six years of experience in the IT sector including 2-4 years managing IT services across diverse geographies and organizational cultures;
  • Knowledge of, and experience with ITIL, Agile/Scrum, DevOps, digital solutions and basic knowledge of software development processes; 
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing/ process industry and of best practice solutions in the shared solutions space;
  • Experience with managing digital services and technologies, like for example digital Marketing, E-commerce, API, Portals and hosting infrastructures;
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills including fluent written and spoken English.
