Color Technician III

Job Purpose

To prepare, apply and measure color samples that are needed for practical experiments, in line with the department, R&D project and functional standards 

Responsibilities

•    Delivering results on time 
•    Correct use of methodologies, tools and systems
•    Maintains safe work environment 
•    Maintains a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in the laboratory. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment 
•    Prepares, applies and measures colored paint samples to support activities relating to the development and maintenance of source bases under of the direction of the RDC Wet lab team leader.
•    Measures with the spectrophotometer, verifies the absorption/reflection (K&S) data, calculates the color differences.
•    Operates Tinting Machinery to accurately prepare paint samples - measuring / weighing and decanting paint
•    Asks guidance to clarify uncertain or ambiguous situations to the RDC wetlab team leader.
•    Assists with the practical part of the training of new staff and individuals outside the section by showing how to dose a color recipe in a paint using a tinting machine, applying the colored paint mixture and measuring the color of the dried paint using a spectrophotometer.
 

What do you need to have to be successful in this job?

Experience 
•    Previous laboratory experience and a scientific study background is desirable but not essential, 
•    Knowledge of MS Office applications required
•    Has the ability to work in a practical, accurate, neat and efficient manner always safe
•    Ability to work unsupervised for up to 2 or 3 days
•    Knowledge in written and spoken English desirable 

Education Level  
•    MBO/ Secondary Vocational Education level laboratory discipline

Competencies  
•    Collects color data and information to support identification of root cause
•    Uses best-practices and past solutions for identified issues and implements prescribed steps for effective resolution
•    Identifies and supports to supply of deliverables required to complete assignments, projects and/or programs
•    Develops relationships with individuals within own direct working environment; reaches out for help or guidance when working on individual goals
•    Demonstrates basic understanding of color and color matching; prepares formulations using and adhering to strict procedures
•    Demonstrates basic understanding of relevant existing techniques & methodologies; follows the principles of techniques and methodologies in own work
•    Uses available data collection systems and data resources to support own experimentation
