Job Purpose

Manages process hazard review, technical data, services, and information pertaining to health, safety, and environmental concerns to ensure an effective program in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations.

Position is located in Salem OR

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages corporate safety program by developing policies, reviewing technical data, and implementing new procedures to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local safety regulations for the site. Programs will include hazardous wastes, pollution reduction, industrial hygiene, OSHA compliance, fire safety and prevention, etc.
  • Develops, monitors, and controls the administration component of the 5S system to include developing and updating the audit format.  Coordinates audit teams to conduct regular inspections, scoring plant areas.  Will provide feedback upon audit completion.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 procedures and policies. 
  • Conducts and reports on semi-annual safety audits to ensure legal compliance. 
  • Provides safety training to enhance in-plant safety programs. 
  • Monitors accidents/injuries and develops procedures through accident reporting to decrease the accident rate. 
  • Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures. Will prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity. 
  • Attends and participates in Powder Plant Programs/Committees and the Powder Safety Journey.  Adheres to the Golden Principle to stop work if conditions or behavior are unsafe. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Occupational Health/Safety or related field.
  • 5 years' health, safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.  ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and hazardous materials exposure and the required federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of fire protection standards, occupational health laws, and loss control/prevention principles relating to workers' compensation guidelines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Rewards and Benefits

The salary range for these skills is $95,000.00 - $100,000.00.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
