Job Purpose

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the plant, site facilities and equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise the plant maintenance department including safety meetings, administration, workforce planning, and direct supervision
  • Supervise the activities of contractors that perform work on-site
  • Oversee plant preventative maintenance and mechanical integrity programs
  • Initiate training programs, as required, for maintenance and operations personnel related to the implementation of new plant equipment or procedures related to grounds 
  • Manage and prioritize all plant maintenance requests
  • Interact with suppliers of equipment, engineering services, and construction and related services 
  • The ability to produce project cost estimates is required
  • Initiate secrecy agreements, as required, for service personnel on the plant site
  • Manage contracts for maintenance including but not limited to lift trucks, elevators, scales, grounds maintenance, snow removal, cleaning contractors, security, etc
  • Supervise the operation of plant utility equipment
  • Oversee maintenance training programs
  • Participate as required in the company's 6 Sigma program
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance with municipal licensing requirements including elevator and boiler licensing
  • Report on key performance metrics for Maintenance activities
  • Execute CAPEX and other small engineering projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager
  • Administrative duties as needed to support department



Job Requirements

  • Must have a BS degree (ME or EE preferred) from an accredited college or university 
  • Must have demonstrated project management experience
  • Must have experience using AutoCAD or equivalent computer aided design program
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in a plant maintenance, equipment technical, or an engineering position
  • Must possess very good mechanical, electrical, and computer system aptitude and be capable of reading all types of drawings
  • Should have good personal computer skills and be fluent using word processor and spreadsheet programs
  • Should have a good understanding of all Codes related to the building and maintenance of plant equipment and grounds
  • This includes NFPA, NEC, OBBC, and ADA
  • Should understand issues and Codes related to storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids, including all elements of Process Safety Management
  • Should have knowledge and experience in project management and capital equipment purchases
