Job Purpose

The Research and Development Specialist is responsible for the execution of specific project phases or lab work request under the supervision of a project leader or manager.  This position will recommend actions to achieve project objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage assigned lab work request (LWR) projects to including timeline and planning on a weekly timescale.
  • Understand the purpose of formulation components and reformulation to solve internal and external customer issues. 
  • Provide data-driven insights to support diagnostics and resolution of issues in manufacturing, application, and formulation.
  • Summarize test data in the form of spreadsheets, reports, and presentation recommending next steps. 
  • Provide direct support to sales, marketing and supply chain efforts through reports, presentation, and customer interaction.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional groups including but not limited to quality control and pilot plants.
  • Maintain clean and organized work environment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering.
  • 1 year experience in the coatings industry or a chemical manufacturing environment.  Academic experience may be considered in lieu of required experience.
  • Background in chemistry/polymers to include developing basic and/or modifying existing formulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective customer service and issue resolution skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as necessary.

Total Compensation

The salary range for these skills is $60,600 - $67,000.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
