Hourly Rate/Work Schedule

 

  • Hourly Rate: $24.00 hour with shift differential for A and B Swing Shift.

  • Schedule:  The position will work an A/B weekly Swing Shift Schedule: 1st Shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. EDT) / 2nd Shift (3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. EDT).

  • NOTE:  Interested candidates must be able to work the swing shift schedule.  No exceptions will be made.

Job Purpose

The Quality Control Technician will coordinate the collection of random samples from production batches/lots. Will perform a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure product’s physical characteristics using highly sophisticated and precise testing instruments.  Must follow established procedures and guidelines to test and conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product’s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, weight per 
    unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests. Must follow all established safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment. 
  • Maintain records and charts for all checked products.
  • Record and report observations or test results in the appropriate Quality Control card or file. The data should be complete and written legibly. 
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager, production staff, and development staff to evaluate production or field related problems.  Assist in identifying potential causes of issues.
  • Actively engage in 5S activities.
  • Sustain and improve organization in work areas to include area housekeeping responsibilities.

  • Associate of Science in Chemistry or related field.  Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • 1 year experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.  Must be knowledgeable of chemical composition, structure, and reactions as it applies to production techniques.
  • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents.
  • Dedicated and committed to safety leadership and presence with the ability to use required equipment to perform job duties.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to read labels and view details up close with or without corrective lenses.  Must be able to successfully complete a Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test.
  • Knowledge of basic math to include dding, subtracting, multiplication, division, fractions and measurements.
  • Ability to watch gauges, dials, or display screens to ensure proper operation of equipment. 
  • Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and balance priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as required.
