Job Purpose

 

Are you passionate about ensuring safety and environmental compliance in the workplace? We are seeking a dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team and play a crucial role in protecting our employees and the environment. As an EHS Specialist, you will oversee safety and environmental programs, conduct training sessions, and ensure compliance with regulations to create a safe and healthy work environment. Key Responsibilities

 

Safety and Environmental Program Management

•  Oversee safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
•  Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and training programs to promote a culture of safety.
•  Lead accident investigations and analyze injury data to determine root causes.
•  Evaluate new processes and manage change to ensure safety and compliance.

 

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

•  Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements and maintain appropriate documentation.
•  Represent the site in its relationship with safety regulatory agencies and coordinate with stakeholders on safety and environmental matters.
•  Manage hazardous waste and oversee the evaluation and approval of safety equipment for site use.

 

Training and Communication

•  Develop and deliver safety training for employees, maintain training records, and conduct job hazard safety analysis.
•  Prepare safety policies and procedures and provide support for the Behavior Based Safety Program.
•  Communicate effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively with multiple departments to promote safety initiatives.
 

Level of Autonomy

 

The EHS Specialist will have some authority to make decisions independently, with more challenging decisions requiring approval from higher management.

Job Requirements

 

•  2-year post-secondary education with 3-5 years+ of EHS experience in an industrial setting.
•  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with stakeholders.
•  Experience conducting job hazard safety analysis and training for small and medium-sized groups.
•  Knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements, preferably in the coating, chemical industry/paints.
•  Ability to multi-task, balance priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
•  Analytical reasoning, problem-solving, coaching/teaching, and decision-making skills.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and strong computer skills for data analysis and report preparation.
•  Ability to perform physical duties in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents.

Compensation/Benefits

 

The salary range for these skills is:  $70,000 to $79,000.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
