We are looking for a Chemist Sr focus in Solvent-based paints to work in our Santo Andre Plant with Packaging.

 

Job Purpose:

  • Develop and improve formulas and processes of products of the portfolio in addition to requesting samples of new raw materials from suppliers to obtain better results in technical and/or financial performance. Share knowledge and encourage team engagement on technical, quality and safety issues. (40%)
  • To execute, report and manage R&D projects. To set scope and develop project plan, business case and execution tactical plan, in line with the R&D strategy, project and R&D functional standards ensuring a successful delivery of the aimed project result. (60%).

 Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the portfolio of products of Packaging, seeking to increase the competitive advantages and differential in performance – LWR and
  • Focus+Stage Gate Tools;
  • Support Masterdata responsible or register formulations and quality control instructions in the SAP ERP system, Product Vision or Optiva;
  • Elaborate Technical data sheets of products developed;
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary groups for the development of continuous improvement projects, new products or technologies;
  • Support with technical knowledge through batch monitoring as part of the implementation of new products, reformulations and problem solving; 
  • Make visits to customers when necessary together with the technical business partner or commercial team, to get relevant information for the improvement in the deliveries of our products and processes;
  • Review and implement administrative and operational procedures;
  • Evaluate and validate new raw materials or processes, conduct research, requesting samples in order to increase competitiveness in cost or performance; 
  • Prepare presentations and technical documents for internal and external audiences;
  • Carry out regional or global transfer process of products to the factory through the methodology and Scale-up tool;
  • Support analysis of non-conforming materials or without movements (SLOB), guiding to related areas and  the application of the definition of use or disposal;
  • Ensure the conservation of materials, uniforms, PPE and equipment under your responsibility as well as by the 5s of your workplace and team;
  • Provide strict observance of the standards and procedures of the GIS (Integrated Management System) and HSE (Safety, Health and Environment) applicable to the area;
  • Provide strict observance of the Code of Conduct and Confidentiality of the company. 

Education:

  • Higher education in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Bachelor in Chemistry or similar.

 

Minimum Experience in the Area:

  • Experience as a solvent-based chemical formulator of paints and varnishes and knowledge of the equipment and processes involved in the production of such items on a laboratory and industrial scale
  • Experience of 6 - 9 years iof relevant experience as Chemist
  • Registration in the active CRQ (mandatory)

Specific knowledge:

  • Intermediate English (will participate in emails or calls)
  • Domain of the Office Package (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Quality concepts and completion of the documentation required by the integrated quality system (FMEA, MOC, Risk Assessment, DMAIC, etc.)
