Job Purpose
Support the company’s vision and objectives by driving consistency in the training provided through the development of eLearning materials, presentations and programs for various stakeholders that are current, accurate, relevant, and effective.
This can be done by managing the delivery of end-to-end content creation in an effective and creative manner while ensuring it is aligned with the requirements of the key stakeholders.
Experience in an instructional design and content development role is essential. The candidate will contribute towards the building of a strong team to be able to deliver effective training content.
The Instructional Designer will work closely with Faculty Leads and key stakeholders to ensure the training topics and related content is structured in an effective manner using the correct instructional design methodologies and training modality. The role requires good communication skills to ensure the Faculty Lead and key stakeholder’s requirements are understood and met in an effective and timely manner. This role entails a strong focus on the Instructional Design of training and depending on the project scale and scope the individual will be required to create content as well. As part of the Instructional Design role, the Designer must collaborate with an eLearning Developer to ensure the requirements that have been discussed with Faculty Leads and stakeholders are conveyed accurately and meet the required expectations. The Instructional Designer will work on Mandatory training and if required work on Non-Mandatory training depending on capacity.
Key Accountabilities
- Create instructional material: eLearning’s, training presentations, quick reference guides and other training related content.
- Design content to optimize learning using Animation and Content design tools.
- Generate the layout of the learning material and supporting material.
- Work closely with the eLearning developer and other content creators to ensure the instructional design is conveyed correctly and effectively.
- Review and redesign content to ensure it matches the learner’s needs. This could be related to the maintenance of older content that needs to be updated or new material.
- Support in the development of visual, audio and interactive training content.
- Develop presentations and design plans to support new content development, re-design, or maintenance for existing content, ensuring internal stakeholder alignment to scope and timeframes
- Design and develop new and maintain existing learning content based on business priorities within SuccessFactors (Learner Management System).
- Update and manage closed captioning transcripts for video-based learning content if required.
- Visualize creative concepts and instructional media via Storyboards/creative brief.
- Converting plain text learning modules into creative and visual learning modules.
- Support testing of new learning modules
- Development of graphics/media (UI, Graphics, illustrations & animations) and ensuring the quality levels (optional).
- Creating/animating original art (optional).
- Audio and Video editing (optional).
- Develop re-usable assets like graphics, icons, and clip arts (optional).
- Perform LMS administrative tasks. The system AkzoNobel used at this point is SuccessFactors. Experience in this would be ideal.
Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate degree in learning design, learning science, instructional design or similar.
- Experience with customer service or delivery organizations.
- Experience in Instructional Design methodologies (Kirk-Patrick and ADDIE).
- Strong English-speaking skills and understanding.
- eLearning authoring tool experience: Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.
- Experience using learning data to inform continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and experience applying adult learning methodologies, storyboarding, scripting and/or technical writing, SCORM and Learning Management System (LMS) support.
- Good to have working knowledge of Python to support automation initiatives, learning analytics, and custom solutions such as skill assessment platforms and other learning technology projects.
Preferred Requirements (requirements that are optional):
- eLearning authoring tool experience: Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier Pro.
- Graphic design experience.
- Video editing experience (Moovly and Movie Maker or similar).
Skills:
- Proficiency in Articulate 360 tools: Storyline and Rise.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After Effects (optional).
- Proficiency in Video editing: Moovly and Movie Maker or similar.
- Fine Art / Multimedia Design background (preferred).
- Good communication skills in English oral and writing.
- Accurate time management skills.
