Job Purpose
Role –
The FP&A Transitional Officer in VMC COE is responsible for:
The Transitional Officer – Finance role supports financial planning, reporting, manufacturing close, and compliance activities for the VMC / ISC function. The role is accountable for accurate and timely data preparation, execution support, analysis, and coordination across forecasting, budgeting, inventory valuation, intercompany processes, and management reporting.
The position acts as a key enabler for timely decision-making by ensuring high data accuracy, adherence to financial calendars, process discipline, and compliance with internal controls. Success in this role is measured through on-time delivery of reports and closes, accuracy of financial outputs, reduction of errors and rework, audit compliance, and effective stakeholder support, while also contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and standardization initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability of finance operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Financial Performance & P&L Analysis-
- Objective: Support weekly analysis of financial performance.
- Responsibilities: - Support in preparation of standard P&L reports, variance analysis, and reconciliations. - Support analysis of actual versus budget and forecast.
- KPIs: - Accuracy of reports - Timeliness of analysis
- Enable reliable forecasting and budgeting cycles.
- Objective: Support smooth manufacturing close activities.
- Responsibilities: - Support in Executing Process Order Settlement runs as per close calendar. - Identify and support resolution of COGI errors.
- KPIs: - Timely completion of settlement activities - Reduction in recurring COGI error
- Inventory Revaluation
- Objective: Ensure accurate inventory valuation.
- Responsibilities: - Support in preparing actual inventory revaluation workings. - Reconcile actual revaluation with anticipated revaluation and highlight gaps.
- KPIs: - Accuracy of revaluation - Timely completion during period clos Specialized costing Activities:
- Manual Journal Entries & Weekly Insights
- Objective: Ensure transparency and traceability of manual adjustments.
- Responsibilities: - Capture manual journal entry details and maintain trackers. - Support preparation of weekly insights and commentary.
- KPIs: - Accuracy of JE tracking - Timeliness of insights
- Management & Statutory Reporting (CIR / MEC / Flash):
- Objective: Enable decision-making through structured reporting.
- Responsibilities: - Refresh data and update reporting decks. - Ensure consistency across CIR, MEC, and Flash reports.
- KPIs: - Timely delivery of reports - Zero reconciliation breaks
- Projects, Automation & SOP Maintenance:
- Objective: Drive efficiency through continuous improvement.
- Responsibilities: - Provide data support for projects and CI initiatives. - Identify automation opportunities. Support SOP creation and periodic revisions.
- KPIs: - Automation ideas identified - SOP compliance
Experience
- Proven work experience of “1 to 3 years” in costing and FP&A role
- Having worked in a large-scale manufacturing organization, having industry knowledge to improve financial analysis and cost management
- Professional Degree in Accounting or Costing (ACA, ICWA, CMA).
- Costing team is collectively handling product costing activities pertaining to 152 Production Sites, BU wise ranging from 15 to 30 sites
- Sound stakeholder management skill, able to prioritize and work with multiple supervisors / stakeholders such as HRT, ISC Nav.s, other finance towers like R2R, I2P, P2I, MDM, etc.
- Working knowledge of Financial & Cost accounting, Product costing, Transfer pricing, IFRS, Financial Statements, and process as well as system end to end flow of manufacturing, with an innovative problem-solving approach.
- In-depth knowledge of costing run, prompt root cause identification & resolution to costing errors, process order settlement, material ledger runs, new product costing, cost simulations, familiarity with ICD transactions, efficient management of material master attributes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial, the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as those of others.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools ERP, HFM, BI, Power BI, CFIN and other data analytics software systems experience (including advance excel to build automated models via different tools like macro, power pivot, data consolidation and data analysis).
- Adoptability to industry-specific technology updates and trends, automated reports and models
- Experience in reviewing and maintaining material master data to ensure accuracy and consistency, supporting effective cost management and financial reporting
- Experience in working in a COE / shared service, working at regional or global level as well as being flexible and open to change.
