Job Purpose

Functional Engineer Reporting – Delivery

 

As an Analytical Engineer, you are at the intersection of data, technology, and business value. Your primary responsibility is to design and implement robust, scalable data models that power analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements, ensuring our data solutions align with global standards, information security, and architectural guidelines.

 

Your role involves understanding requirements, designing and developing enterprise data models, writing clean and efficient code, and creating clear and comprehensive data documentation. You will be a key player in standardizing data projects, ensuring consistency and quality across our enterprise data landscape. By fostering communication between technical and business teams, you help bridge the gap between raw information and actionable business insights.

 

You will actively participate throughout the project lifecycle—from initial requirement gathering and  development, testing, and change management. Working in an Agile/DevOps environment, you will help prepare, coordinate, and execute changes, collaborating with internal teams and external partners as needed. You may also be called upon to assist with urgent incidents and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable data models.
  • Develop and optimize data models (fact & dimension models, semantic layers) for efficient querying and reporting.
  • Develop semantic models to enhance self-service analytics and reporting.
  • strong understanding of data modeling principles, including the Kimball dimensional modeling approach
  • Implement and manage Delta Lake tables for structured, reliable, and high-performance data storage.
  • Ensure proper data governance and security using Unity Catalog.
  • Automate data workflows using Python, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work on performance tuning of Databricks workloads, optimizing storage and processing efficiency.
  • Support data visualization teams by providing well-structured datasets for tools like Power BI .

 

Experience

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • experience in Azure Databricks or similar big data platforms.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling (fact, dimension, and semantic models).
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark for data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
  • Knowledge of Azure services related to data processing (ADLS, Synapse, ADF) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of ETL/ELT workflows and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, writing/documentation and facilitation skills in English
  • Experience with SAP data ingestion and transformation is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP BW or SAP HANA is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
